I was wondering what ya'll thoght about the bama game?

I think that we have a very good shot at beating them. I hope we stack the line and make their QB beat us with the pass. There is no doubt in my mind that we can hang with them on man coverage. Put pressure on their QB and stop the run.

On Offense I like our balanced approach. They can stop the run fairly decent but we better not get to reliant on the pass. I would like to see mor 10 to 15 yard outs. Agains ole miss seemed like we either through a screen, 5 yards or down the field. Either way we should beat them as we are superior at almost every spot.

if the offense doesn't take a nap during the 2nd and 3rd qtrs I like our chances. repeat of last week on D and I like our chances.

We shouldn't be lacking for motivation in this one, just ask Fulmer's lawyers.

Pressure their QB relentlessly, stack the box, press coverage on the outside. Risky, but I doubt they can take advantage of it. Force them into mistakes. Seize the momentum early and don't give it up.

penetrate the backfield...by the gaps...cause disruption...occasionally send a weak side corner in to behead the qb... attacking defense would win the day.

Alabama averages 30.4 pts-per-game (ppg) offensively, but gives up only 13.0 ppg defensively.

Most of their yardage is gained on the ground as they lead the SEC in rushing at 243.3 yds-per-game(ypg). However, they rank dead last in the SEC in passing at 126.3 ypg. They rank 9th in pass efficiency offense. Bama's qbs, Guillon and Pennington have combined for 2 TDs and 6 ints while passing for less than 50%.

On the defensive side of the ball, Alabama ranks first in the SEC in total defense at 225.6 ypg. They are 6th in run defense, 122.6 ypg, and 1st in pass defense, 103.0 ypg. They are also 1st in the SEC in pass defense efficiency, 81.9.

Regarding mistakes, Alabama is tied for first in the SEC with a +7 takeaway difference.

I look for this game to be ugly. Both teams will play it close to the vest... trying to not make mistakes. Tennessee will be the best offense that Alabama has faced so far this season. Conversely, Alabama (at least statistically) has the best defense the Vols have faced. The loss of Croyle and Hudson is huge for Alabama. Hudson is not only the Tide's leading rusher, he also leads the team in receptions.

It will be a tough ballgame but if we control the ground game, we will beat them like a crimson-headed stepchild.

Bama's rushing stats have been accumilated against teams not of Tennessee's calibre. Add to that the loss of their #1 QB abd #1 RB and while their #2 back is good he is not their best, I think it will be a physical game the depth and superior talent UT has will win out in the end 31-10.

I think that Tennessee will do great against their running offense; our defensive line will hold up great against the pressure. If Haralson Mahalona and the line backers hold up like they did a couple weeks ago, then they will have a total of 150 yards earned offensivly.

It might be close for about 3 quarters, until your depth takes over. We just dont have a lot of talented depth on our team. (We'll get there though).

If Coach Fulmer is as good as he's supposed to be, then there is no doubt he'll stack the line and dare us to pass. ;) Since Croyle was injured, we have not shown that we can move the ball through the air effectively or consistantly. We are using our 3rd string QB because Marc Guillon (sp?) is also injured. Barring some miracle, that leaves us with 1 QB.

If I were the Defensive coordinator, I would blitz early and often. I'd put 8 men in the box and make Pennington prove to me that he can handle the pressure. Of course, you must stop the run to do this, but I would think thats a given.

We've lost our starting QB and our backup is injured. We've lost our starting Hb and are using backups. (One is dividing his time between hb and fb duty). One of our star recruit recievers didnt make his grades and isnt on the team this year.

We'll show up for the game. But I wouldnt be at all surprised if the bus gets a flat tire on the way to the stadium.

with Bama's #1 QB out. they will have to beat us with the run and that will be hard for their #2 RB to do. Especially with big boys like Justin Harrell up front.

Ole Miss' QB Lane looked better than any of the other Ole Miss QBs against Tennessee. He's not a passer.

Also, to bring some bad history.... LSU didn't look pretty but won the SECCG in 2001 with a backup QB and RB.

Not wanting to be negative, but the Vols better be ready and not think, "we're just playing backups."
