The way the guys are playing now is one of the clearest examples of "addition by subtraction" that I have ever seen. The offense is flowing again. With Tyler out there, the offense was like a blocked artery. People standing around waiting for him to do something while he did his little rocker step move that nobody was buying anymore and refused to take ANY outside shots whatsoever. Tyler is a talent and I wish him all the best and feel bad for him, but the difference is night and day.
And I find the constant references to Tennessee being ground down by the schedule or whatever due to only having 6 scholly players to be a little bit of a reach, too. Check the minutes -- KU milked their starters just as much as we did, even more -- Collins was on the floor for 38 minutes! So where's all the concern about the Jayhawks wearing down? Playing 30 minutes of basketball, however intense, is absolutely nothing on a 20 year old body. If you check the box scores, MOST top 25 teams play their starters 30 plus. Why are the Vols supposedly so physically fragile compared to other teams? Sure, we might be hurting skills wise on our depleted bench, but walk-ons can be every bit as energetic as scholly players.
