Currently:

National rank: 8th
Number of commits: 12
Average player rating: 90.51

Five key official visitors in June:

  • five-star receiver Mike Matthews (June 23)
  • top-100 edge rusher Jordan Ross (June 23)
  • four-star edge rusher Kameryn Fountain (June 23)
  • top-100 defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin (June 16)
  • four-star offensive tackle Max Anderson (June 9)
Josh Heupel ended Tennessee’s seven-year run of finishing outside the top 10 in the recruiting rankings last year and is poised to sign another top-10 class. Seven blue-chip commitments are headlined by top-100 prospects in Jake Merklinger (quarterback) and Jonathan Echols (tight end). The Volunteers are coming off a big weekend of unofficial visits and have as many as 13 top-100 players scheduled to stop by Knoxville in June.

My biggest questions right now:
1) Who will be the 2nd TE to go with Echols?
2) Who will be the 2nd CB to go with Beasley? (Boo is a S and Farooq is a Nickel)

1. I think we’re in a good spot with Amir Jackson and having Michael Smith’s QB committed will help us with him. So the TE spot isn’t too big of a concern. I think we take 2 from the portal this year anyway and landing Okoye late in 23 helps things too. I also think if we land Daniel Hill that he can play an H-Back type role and is a big enough body to split out wide and block DBs on our screens and is fast enough and has good enough ball skills to be a solid pass catcher.
2. We’re in a good spot with Omillio Agard and Santana Wilson as our second corner, but I would imagine Cai Bates and Kamron Mikell are higher on their board. Chase Tyler seems to be a name that’s popping up a lot too that has the potential to be our second corner. I think Boo has the athleticism to play any skill position on either side of the ball. So there’s always that option too. I’m hoping they land Bates. His ball skills are phenomenal and that seems to be one thing Willie has struggled to coach up so far. He reminds me a lot of his teammate Ja’Keem Jackson from last year and I think he was arguably the best corner in the class. Whoever their DB coach is at that HS does a damn good job

Tennessee with seven years outside of the top 10, and Georgia with seven years inside the top 3. We must turn the tide on that.
