This is when people should be burning mattresses. Not because we already know for a fact that he won't win big here (though I'm about 99.5% sure he won't), but because everyone knew this hire was our most critical in decades and we end up with a complete gamble: a Cincinnati coach who has virtually no recruiting contacts in the South and has never had a coaching job without Brian Kelly to set the table.
Make no mistake: with even a decent AD, one who didn't let his ego get in the way, our absolute worst case scenario would be Butch Davis. Now we have this. I am absolutely rooting for Butch Jones and would love to see him do well, but even if we get lucky with him, it's beside the point. The UTAD is showing that it really doesn't give a sh*t about its fans, and the worst part is that many of those same fans will be trying to talk everyone else into thinking it's either a great hire or we had no other choice.
I hope this works out. But I'm more worried about our future if this is how the AD is going to operate.
