Thoughts on Toyota entering the ring?

Bring'em on. The more the merrier, etc. Just going to make it more competitive... and that's not a bad thing at all.

I say PRO bringing in the new sponsors and drivers is a good thing.Bring in the best to prove who is the best!
OK on a side note, should NASCAR bring different tire manufacturers as well?I haven't decided on this one.

Took the words from my mouth. I am tired of all these redneck fans screaming about foreign makers.

First of all more Toyota parts are made in America than the big 3.

And after Chevy wipes the floor with the competition again, it will just leave more makers crying after the season.

bring 'em on. Honda too. like others, I'm tired of Nascar having races in California, New York and Chicaga and yet it's still labeled a "redneck" pastime.

Rednecks live in every portion of the US. It's just a somewhat insulting way of pointing out NASCAR's demographic... Which is almost entirely 20-35 year old white middle class men.

Its getting to the point where when you pull the stickers off of them you can't tell the difference anyway! Pretty soon it will be a bigger version of the IROC series! I was Nascar when Nascar wasn't cool but this COT has just about done it for me! It aint your daddy's Oldmobile!

NASCAR will never escape that, unfortunately. It'll just have to settle for being the second most viewed sport in the country and deal with being stereotyped.

If NASCAR wants to be recognized outside of US they'll have to allow other car makers to play in the game.

true, but women are increasingly showing up in the stands. I guess that's due more to the cuteness of some of the younger drivers, but damn if there aren't some babes to be seen in the stands on race day.

USATODAY.com - NASCAR not just for the boys anymore

Nielsen Media Research figures from 2003 show NASCAR led the NFL and major league baseball in percentage of female viewers on broadcast networks. Women were 35% of the total audience for NASCAR, two percentage points more female viewers than for the NFL and MLB.

Tim Buckman, spokesman for Fox Sports, says the fastest growing segment of the television audience for the 2004 Nextel Cup Series on Fox is women 18-34. Their numbers are up 19% from this time last year. The next fastest growing segment: women 18-24, up 17%.

Sweet... I can officially be called a redneck in a little over 2 months. :rock2:

ratings across the board were down for NASCAR last year.

add to that, open seats at most of the Chase races.

it's not as hard to find a NASCAR ticket as it was 3-4 years ago.

no, but they will have GM and Ford scratching their heads wondering how they get to Victory Lane so much.

Toyota will dominate. it may not be next year, but they will.

This is the dumbest post yet.

They will be lucky to win any races all year. Being good in nascar is a hard thing, it takes years of research and development. PLus they will mostly be out of the top 35 in points and will be hoping to just get all their cars qualified for the race.

Toyota & etc: :bad:

Will they throw rice in victory lane?
Nah, Dodge didn't throw up the Heil Hitler sign when they returned to victory lane...

I don't think Toyota will dominate until they get some of the top teams and drivers. I refuse to believe anything spearheaded by Michael Waltrip will dominate.

dumb because i said it, or dumb as in you can't read?

i never said they would win anything next year.

you think Toyota just decided within the last year to start working on their Cup teams? first, they've been in the truck series for many years. second, they have the money. if you think they are just some Johnny-Come-Lately, you are very mistaken.

they're not coming to NASCAR to run second rate NASCAR teams. i am not sure what to expect from MWR, but Red Bull will be strong. trust me. their problems won't be equipment or technology, it will be talent.

if these guys can master open wheel racing, cars that require WAY more engineering, they can handle NASCAR.

again, i will help you out by saying they won't see a great deal of success next year, but they will, and it will be soon.

Yeah my bad. I read it wrong. I though you said they would dominat next year. They wont.

And like you said talent is lacking. I mean Vickers had the best equipment in Nascar and did squat. Only won one race, and that was a crock of poo.

Waltrip is lame, Jarrett is old, Vickers is a loser with very little talent. It will be a few years before they do anything.

the 25 car at Hendrick was anything but spectactular equipment. look at the history of the 25 team and it's easy to see why Vickers jumped ship. he realized he wasn't going anywhere in the 25.

Tim Richmond didn't seem hindered by the #25 team. I know a lot has changed since his time, but they haven't exactly had the greatest drivers...

Ken Schrader - won 4 races
Ricky Craven
Wally Dallenbach
Jerry Nadeau - won 1 race
Joe Nemechek - won 1 race
Brian Vickers - won 1 race

Mears isn't much of, if any, a change in talent, so he should be able to at least squeak out one win during his tenure in the #25.

Yep, with Michael Waltrip, it will be a lean season.

Go CHEVROLET!

1. Agree about Waltrip. :snoring: Yak-Yak-Yak..

2. I like Jarrett--can't figure why he went with the rice burners.

3. Vickers is an in-experienced "kid" who needs to go to ARCA or lower...
