IMO....it's silly for the NCAA to be involved in this issue anyway. Don't they have enough to worry about??? :stop: :stop: :stop:

If the tribes are agaisnt a school using their name and likeness, then the tribes should be the ones complaining to the individual schools.

Have I missed something?

It always seems that the people doing the complaining are about as white as rice, like me.

Well apparantley some group of Seminoles in Oklahoma or somewhere like that supposedly did have a problem with FSU. But then the reports changed to say that they didn't after all.

I may be wrong here, but I thought the Florida Seminoles were separate from that group.

Besides, if the Florida tribe is fine with it, why should the Oklahoma tribe have a problem?

I do think universities should listen to the tribes, if in fact it is the tribe and not just a handful of radicals who love to complain.

My problem with this whole topic is; In America, it only takes one person to complain and the culture of liberal thinking demands that if one person is offended, then society must cave to them.

That's just bull. I think most agree.

That's why the NCAA was out of place. It's not their fight.

Bigoted? Pathetic? Are you serious? There was nothing but truth there. I'm neither a liberal or a conservative, nor do I wish to delve into politics on this board. Just stating the obvious, IMHO.

In reference to my joining, I couldn't remember my old screen name (which only amassed two posts at the most anyhow). Getting geared up for the season, and I thought this would be a good place to start. Afterall, it is a topic I find laughble, so why not comment?

The Oklahoma tribe was the one's that had to separated from the Florida tribe because of all the trouble they caused. Seems like living in Oklahoma hasn't stopped them from trying to cause trouble

Absolutely correct. Ask the WNC Cherokees what they think about the Atlanta Braves. They'll tell you they don't have a problem with it. Incidentally, there is a big high school on the Cherokee reservation with predominatly Native American sudent body. And guess what their team nickname is? You got it......the "Braves".

The only nickname of a sports team that should offend the Indians that I can think of would be the Washington REDSKINS.
