For a single season...

Russel Wilson 196.9
Case Keenum 194.1
Robert Griffin 190.7

Colt Brennan set the record with a passer rating of 186.0 in 2006.

Interestingly enough, Aaron Rodgers is on pace to break Peyton Manning's single season record as well. Manning set the record with a passer rating of 121.1. Rodgers is sitting at 125.7. Still a long, long ways to go for Rodgers with 9 games remaining but it looks like the NCAA record is all but a lock to be broken.

Something else that's interesting... Tyler Bray has the 7th best passer rating in the country behind Wilson, Keenum, Griffin, Moore, Luck and Renner. Probably wouldn't be that high if he played Bama, LSU and South Carolina but he has only attempted 6 less passes than Wilson. What's even more interesting is that Jake Heaps has the 4th worst passer rating and Chase Rettig has the 7th worst. Granted Tyler Bray played poor competition prior to his injury, it's interesting to see what could have been had Kiffin landed Heaps, Rettig or Scroggins(tbd) instead. Good thing they all spurned us

Case Keenum's stat line for Saturday (11/5/11) was just about unbelievable. I don't think many people could do that in the back yard with no defensive players for opposition. Just hard to fathom.

QB rating formula is shizz.

On edit, here are his stats: 39-44, (89%) for 407 yards. 2 TDs, no interceptions. And just to show how silly the QB rating thing is....his backup (Cotton Turner-great name, huh?) was 4-7 (57%), for 81 yds, 1 TD, no interceptions....and his QB rating was 201.5 to Case's 181.3. Someone tell me how that makes sense, ok?

Ratings are according to Rivals.com

Two of those three were art briles' last two qb recruits. The one before that? Kevin Kolb.

im fairly certain yards per attempt are a huge part of qb rating. thats why the back-up's rating is better.

All of three of them are still on pace.

Russel Wilson 196.9 - Dropped to 192.9 (Michigan St + Bowl)
Case Keenum 194.1 - Dropped to 187.3 (Southern Miss + Bowl)
Robert Griffin 190.7 - Risen to 191.1 (Texas + Bowl)

Griffin left the Texas Tech game with a concussion. I'm sure he'll play in the Texas game but it's possible he only has the bowl game left.

Aaron Rodgers has actually improved his passer rating too. Gone from 125.7 to 127.7. Remaining schedule; Giants, Raiders, Chiefs, Bears, Lions. Do playoff games count towards single season records or is it just regular season games?

And then there were two... Case Keenum is out of the running.

Robert Griffin 192.3 (?)
Russell Wilson 191.6 (Oregon)
Case Keenum 177.9 (?)

Griffin has improved his passer rating since the original post. He did it against Texas Tech(174.6), Kansas(193.5), Texas(211.3) and Oklahoma(218.9). The Tech game doesn't really count because he only threw 11 passes.

Depending on who Baylor faces, I don't think Griffin can play poorly enough to drop below 186.0.

Looks like Wilson is now the new record holder.

Russel Wilson 191.8
Robert Griffin 189.5
Colt Brennan 186.0

In the mean time, Aaron Rodgers barely clinging to the record with a passer rating of 122.5. Peyton holds(held?) the record with a rating of 121.1. Anyone know if playoffs count towards the record or if it's just the regular season?
