you will lose. Want to see a ball sail over the fence? Pitch a fastball belt high or about three inches above it down the middle of the plate . It will work every time unless you can throw 104 mph. You learn at 12 years old to keep the ball low. In high school your pitchers should throw at the knees all day long. Outside corner at the knees. Inside corner at the knees. Do this the whole game and every now and then throw a fastball up ad in on the hands. We saw all game long our pitchers throw down the middle of the plate waist high. Why? That's serving it up for batting practice. Have a fastball hitter come up - throw him nothing but breaking balls and off speed pitches. Let him see a fastball at the knees and three inches outside. I wouldn't let my high school pitchers throw like what we saw today. These college pitchers are old enough to know better but, yet, they served it up, repeatedly. This goes against the fundamentals of baseball. Can't understand it whatsoever.

So you’re saying we should try throwing pitches that are harder to hit? I’m emailing Frank Anderson and Tony V right now. Thank you!

I’m sure most pitchers attempt to “hit” the corners, knees, etc. However, it’s more difficult than it looks on TV. Plus, Blue determines the strike zone.

We would be yelling at our pitchers to throw strikes if he walked batters.

Shame our pitchers can't execute at 100%. Throw for high and tight and doggone it stayed out over the plate. Other examples of missed execution as well. Kinda like their starter with 3 homers first inning ya think? Jeepers folks be realistic.
Dag gone Frank Anderson keeps calling all those hangers and middle/middle fast balls...

OP's username indicates he's a baseball savant

Causey & Combs are our best 2 pitchers. Nothing else to see here! Beam has been good for up to 4 innings and usually gets in trouble and gives up runs in bunches. The lefty we have going today has been good of late getting to 5th or 6th and if he can get to 5 and lean on the 2 mentioned above we may be okay. Go Vols !

I still don’t get why number of messages increases one’s credibility on this board. There are some members with high message counts, but they are meaningless or incoherent. Yet solely based on the number of times they have posted they are more credible to you?

Saw on Facebook that Baseball 25's real identity is Michael Anderson, a confessed sh_ _ poster. Oh, and he has a cousin at ESPN that leaked this story about belt high fastballs.

I didn't say that. Your take. His post was an attack on our pitchers like they were doing on purpose. Like that was the plan to feed fat fastballs right down the middle of the plate. Ludicrous at best. Went back to see info on poster and saw the 26 messages. Just brought it out. I'll take substance over fluff and lofty numbers any time.

OMG!!!! It is that simple? Man, how is it that you haven't cashed in on that mind blowingly astute observation. Just remember to always throw the pitch to the perfect spot and there will no longer be a need for offensive stats. In reality, what a braindead comment from a "fan". Again, can there be a requirement for number of posts before someone is allowed to start a thread?
