So I had my Thyroid removed a few months ago due to cancer. So now I have to take Synthroid and they are still trying to figure out my dosage and what not. Has anyone else had similar experiences? If so, how long did it take to get stuff right?

My mother has been on that exact drug for 25 years is bet. It works. Give it time.

My former sister-in-law had no problems with Synthroid but experienced problems when she tried to switch to a generic product. So, once they get the dosage down, stay with that manufacturer.

My mom had her thyroid removed a a few years ago. I don't think it took very long to get the dosage straightened out, and she's had great luck with it ever since.

I will say that she also has to take Synthroid and didn't do well with the generic (Levothyroxin I think).

God bless you. My grandmother, mother, and sister have all had their thyroids removed.

4 to 6 weeks between each change in dosage. Once you finally get that dosage right you won't have to worry about it. They'll test your TSH level after that every 6 months to a year.

The wife and I are both okay with the Levo.

Thanks everyone. The surgery and radiation wasn't the worse part, getting this stuff squared away has been the worst.

My mother has had thyroid problems nearly my entire life, and they are certain I'm soon to have them. My research on the medication to balance a thyroid (whether lack of the gland, hypo or hyper thyroidism) is much like taking any kind of medication for depression or mental illness, it takes weeks and experimentation to get the exact dose right, but once it does work you'll see the changes pretty quickly. Don't be too discouraged, they'll get it right.
