It's a shame for LSU.
I feel their pain, I really do.

The state of affairs in our conference these days is a total travesty.

This is what happens when Al Qaeda and the Taliban win.

Go Vols.

WOW...That was cool to see, and provides more fuel to the fire that there might actually be a conspiracy out there

Go over there and poke them, tell them that Kiffin tried to warn everyone in his press conference a few weeks ago (about worrying about going for it and getting a hanky thrown) and got a reprimand for it. I've posted in a few of their threads that Kiff was just ahead of his time and they should hop on the Lane Train.

I'm hesitant to make a call one way or the other based on a couple of still photos -- regarding at what point Peterson had fully secured controlled possession of the ball and whether either foot was touching the boundary line at the point that he had accomplished that. Expert officials who saw the play and reviewed video replays are better able and better qualified than me to do that.

There are some still photos of Julio's big play where LSU fans are whining that there was a block in the back on an LSU defender. On video it looks more like the defender was faked out of his cleats to the point that he would not have made the play and that the blocker hand checked rather than push him. Good no call, IMO.

The series of photos claiming LSUs QB was speared shows that he was indeed not speared with the crown (top) of the helmet but that the defender hit him with the forehead part of his helmet which is legal. That same series of photos shows that an LSU lineman was blantantly holding Bama player #25 (Rolando McClain), but the LSU fans failed to mention that.

A lot of observers see what they want to see. Still photos can be very misleading. Video is much better for assessing what actually occurred on a given play.

Keep trying consiracy theorists.

Really? You're still going to pretend it was questionable?

I'm not pretending anything. I'm not convinced either way. Apparently the officials feel that it was not until the point represented by the pic above that the player possessed the ball. I don't know enough about the rules with respect to what constitutes having gained full possession in catching the ball. I suspect that the officials know very well what those rules are and have considerable experience in making those calls. Two officials on that sideline conferred briefly together before the one signaled incomplete. They then deferred to replay for further review of their call. So that's a concensus opinion of at least three officials that possession was achieved after his foot touched the boundary line.

If it makes you feel better to attempt to ridicule me for giving the officials the benefit of the doubt on this play call that's your perogative. After all I certainly haven't hesitated to poke a little fun at the ridiculous conspiracy theory postings I see on VolNation. I mainly just do it with the funny little tin-foil hat picture, since it seems to do a pretty good job of striking a nerve in those posters.

It's getting late, good night. :salute:
