Tiger won the British Open today for his TENTH major tournament victory. Jack Nicklaus won eighteen so Tiger is over half way there. It was a good tournament this weekend...Jack retired, Colin Montgomerie (A Scot) finished second, John Daly had a good tournament, Freddy Couples (One of my favorites) tied for third, and they explained a lot about the history of St. Andrews, where the game started!

I was so glad Tiger won. It wasn't too much of a surprise, though. He was five strokes ahead of his nearest competitor last time I checked the scores.

Everyone should listen to Robin Williams - Live on Broadway. Towards the middle, he talks about Tiger Woods and St. Andrews. It's hilarious. :laugh1:

I like to watch Tiger play and think it is good for Golf that he is on track to chase down Jack for the Majors title. It is a great marketing tool for television and definately keeps the game interesting for the casual fan.

One thing I have not heard talked about much is how Tiger's tour schedule compares to that of Jack back when he played. I mean in realation to how many tournaments were available on the Tour during Jacks time compared to now. Just what percentage did Jack play compared to Tiger? Something has to be said for durability to perform week after week without rest. If the Tour was more strict during Jack's time about minimum tournaments entered, that has to be taken into consideration in my opinion. If in fact Tiger plays more touraments per year than Jack did during his prime, then more power to Tiger.

Is this a legit question to ask? I don't know. Just throwing it out there.

There has never been a minimum requirement for events played. Tiger plays a very similar schedule to what Jack played. Nicklaus in his prime played about 20 events per year which is about what Tiger plays now.

People seem to think Jack didn't face competition during his time and that is so far from the truth.

Player? Palmer?
