There seems to be a shuffle with the TE's. The TE position is a huge role in our offense and we need a playmaker at the position in this class. Heres how I see it playing out.

Bama: Nick O'Leary
Miami: A.C. Leonard
Florida: Cam Clear

Cam Clear loved his visit there and almost committed on the spot. If Florida can truly talk him into playing TE, then I think we may lose him.

That leaves my favorite player in this class and also a day 1 starter for our team Jay Rome. In a recent interview he had us in his top 3 and stated playing time as a major factor. Last weeks shlacking at Georgia didnt help but we are a major player here.

UT/UGA: Jay Rome

Why anyone would want to play TE in a gimmick system that is the Florida offense is beyond me.

Do you think we have a shot w/ Rome or is he a UGA lock

It will be a UT/UGA battle IMO, I know a few people dont share that opinion but you have to think with us running 2 TE sets, having a few TE's getting drafted into the NFL & having Stocker getting drafted this year will help. Plus the depth chart for next season, he could come in & play from day 1. You have to like our chances if you look at it that way. Dooley will have to truly sell him & the family in the in home visit.

We have to hope O'Leary commits to Bama taking them out of the Rome sweepstakes

The Miami fan that posts on here thinks O'leary is a FSU lock.

If Rome truly wants the ball in his hands he wont go to Bama, yea they use 2 TE's but they dont throw the ball to their TE's. Stocker has more catches than both of their TEs combined.

Damn, Bama already has a descent TE Malcolm Faciane committed, and they got Brian Vogler last year, so PT may be hard to come by for Rome than

Exactly, I've been thinking to myself we have a great shot at Rome. Everything he wants is what Tennessee can offer him.

I was mentioning this in the Kimbrow thread, but keep an eye on Romond Deloatch from the 2012 class as well. He is going to be beast tight end in that class. He is from Virginia and apparently has a lot of interest in the Vols. He supposedly almost committed to us a while back.

Right now I would say O'Leary is all Nole. I also think Fulse ends up at Auburn and unless CMR is fired J Rome will be at UGA next year. His relationship with CMR is to big right now. Tanner McEvoy looks to be the best option for Miami right now unless they can get AC Leonard. Clear I thought was all Vol, but with UF now left without a TE in their class they might make him top priority.

I also do not see UA getting another TE in this class unless someone like Rome or O Leary come onboard. In regards to AC Leonard UA is recruiting him for defense and he seems to like that idea. His wavering started at the UA/UF game and really liked us.

Look up Aaron Hernandez.

Please. You and I both know Florida does not develop their players well. The players that go through Florida and into the NFL do that based on their pure, raw talent. If I were a legitimately talented TE, I would want to play in a pro-style offense as it would showcase my talents better. Hernandez was a beast coming out of HS. He was going to the NFL wherever he went, but if a player wants true development, he shouldn't go to Florida.

Don't exactly agree with this. Spikes is going to be good. Haden is going to be a baller. Once Jenkins leaves, he will be good. Hernandez is going to be good. Look at Harvin.

Hernandez isn't the traditional type of TE. They used him in the spread a ton from shotgun formations. He fit the UF offense pretty well because of his athletic ability and hybrid TE/WR style.

All in all though, UF doesn't do a great job with players in the NFL, especially RB's. And, talent does have a lot to do with it, just not sure its solely the reason like you stated.

Back on topic, I've agreed with j_moore for a while now. I like our chances with Rome a lot now. If things stay as is, it will definitely be down to us and UGA. Hopefully UGA goes down the gutter some more this year and we reep the benefits.

Would we rather have Rome than Clear? Does Clear have any interest in playing o tackle?
