Tim Banks deserves some respect

Those guys were on fire last night. They played with passion and quickness. Everything was left out on the field. The silver lining of having so many defenders out is that now they are back, we have some well trained back ups. We are able to put personnel back at the proper positions. It is on!

That defense was DOMINANT last night. Held a supposed 1st round draft pick and Heisman candidate QB to 98 yards passing and 3 INT?!? Had several sacks and completely shut down the run like we have all year against 1 of the best running teams in the country.

We DOMINATED the line of scrimmage and for the 1st time this season our secondary not only had 3 picks but LAID some WOOD on WR , RBs, and Levis sorry butt!!!

Banks and his assistants have done a GREAT JOB this season with the talent at hand...and built depth through practice sessions alone..thats the hard way.

Pay the man. Pay this whole staff...if we do not, someone else will. $$$$

It was Ky., I'll reserve my judgment, but they did look good last night. D line has been good all season. One thing I noticed last night was our DBs turning their head and looking for the ball.

I noticed that to. Slaughter's int was because he turned his head around before the ball arrived. I think its hard to get players to focus on the small details sometimes until they realize it works.

I remember a thread a few weeks back calling for his replacement. Starting with LSU I think the defense has improved weekly. Now that a few pieces are back and newbes being coached up Tennessee has a good shot at going undefeated.
Agreed and moving Slaughter to corner was a great move.

You are correct. I remember those that wanted to fire Banks, fire Martinez and hire the Texas A&M, Missouri, etc., defensive coordinators. They are in hiding right now but I know who they are. GBO.

Entire defensive staff deserves alot of credit:
1) getting these young men to play hard the last 2 years. We couldnt say that with the last defensive "guru" staff.
2) overcoming depth issues at LB and 2ndary both seasons
3) developing depth in the DL
4) developing game strategy to prevent teams from controlling the ball all game last year.

I remarked earlier this season that some people appear to have a biased axe to grind against Banks. I don't understand it. But if he and all the defensive coaches haven't earned your respect by now, I doubt they ever will.

Coach Banks has not let the outside noise affect his focus, many of these players are young, and it takes time to coach them up, harder on defense vs. offense. How many adjustments does a defense make on any given play? it is crazy.

I think the defense has shown progress every week. Last night they looked awesome.

My only question is how much was Levis and the Kentucky O over hyped.

But no matter what the case was the entire staff needs to be paid and paid well.

Top to bottom they have pulled off a minor miracle to get this team improved to where they are.

To me the season has been a great success and everything from here on out is icing, but I do love icing.

Go vols and beat Georgia.

The Defense has amped it up for sure, and the Offense is helping by keeping the Vols ahead . Easier to play defense when you have the lead, AND hat's off to RG for the outstanding DLINE Play! That is where it all starts. That said, every facet of the Defense has improved . Obviously somebody is coaching..

Not defending Banks, but the players didn’t even want it last night on defense. Even when he sent a blitz package, the blitzing linebacker would just meander into the gap. No urgency at all. It almost looked like there was a divide and the defense was saying “if the offense is so good, let’s see if they can win the game without us”. It was very reminiscent of the 2011 Kentucky game. Something happened internally before this game.
