Purdue, you may have got some whack ass officiating to win you a tourney game and a bowl game against us—but I think we’ll take em tomorrow and I don’t think it will really be close. I think our defense is too athletic and strong for them.

Tomorrow is our coming out party as the best team in the country. Purdue didn’t look overly impressive against Gonzaga. Gonzaga isn’t who they normally are. Purdue didn’t really put them away either.

I think we win 77-68.

It still wasn’t a foul on Lamonte Turner. It was a 5 second violation inbounding. And it was a TD. Wright reached out before he was down. Dobbs is a cooler astronaut.

**** Purdue.

Get your bets in for the Vols to win it all. We were at +3000 last week. Down to +2200 on Cesar’s.

Don’t forget the missed kick out of bounds to give Purdue the ball back with 2 seconds remaining. The Purdue kid hit the ball with his foot before the 3 Turner got called on. You can argue the other two instances are subjective to judgement, but the ball off the kid’s foot should have given us the ball back.

Man I think they made the leg kick initiating contact a non-subjective call. Edwards kicked out his leg and initiated the contact. Completely bogus.

From what I watched of Purdue vs Gonzaga, it seemed like a fast paced, high level game. I was impressed with both teams and thought they both played better than we did today. We struggled with Syracuse's 7'4 dude and Edey is both much better and a huge offensive threat. Plus, I'm guessing we are down Awaka, so that doesn't help in slowing him down.

Hopefully Knechts cramps don't affect him in this next game. We need his shooting. Hopefully Gainey can be better in staying in bounds. I felt the court and the turnovers took him out of the game.

I also felt we were fortunate that Syracuse seemed offensively limited and could not shoot from the free throw line. Purdue will be much more efficient and take advantage of any scoring droughts we have.

Edey and Jones are the major players that the defense has to focus on tomorrow night.

If we can hold Edey to 12 and 5 and Jones to 10 and 4, we should win.

Before the 1979 Bluebonnet Bowl, the Purdue student newspaper had an article about how offended they were that UT was such an undeserving opponent. The headline might have been “TN in OUR bowl?”. They thought that they were elite in football and UT was a below average program.

Our coach won a national title in 1976, right? You’d think they would remember that.

Then we lose. Everyone needs to accept that Edey is likely getting around 20/10/3. There’s a reason he was the POY last season and the front runner to repeat. Barnes has to figure out a way to overcome that given and win. I’m no basketball expert, but it seems like we will have to try and run Edey to death while shooting a high percentage from the field?

Now, gentlemen, if you’re finished with weak activities, please acknowledge we have a vendetta with Purdue—we have the best team in the country.

Also, Purdue had one of the most embarrassing exits in NCAA tournament history.

Turner didn't foul the shooter.....ref made call 40' away referee standing 10' from play didn't see foul......

It was a dumb play by Turner. He jumped into the guy--or appeared to--and there was no reason to give the official a reason to think about or make the call. You see it all the time: A guy goes up for an outside jump shot, a defender leaps toward him with arm extended, the offensive player gets the shot off--no foul on the hand or arm--but the defender comes into his body just as, or just after, he releases the ball. Sometimes it's not called a foul--but often/usually it is. The guy was practically out of bounds when he shot it--there was no reason to even come close to him.

I mean you’d rather he not contest the shot? Turner can’t do anything about Edwards kicking his leg out and the idiot ref falling for it. Leave an incredibly hot shooter open for three was not a solution

Most of the basketball pundits agreed that was not a foul on Turner. He didn’t jump into him, he jumped parallel and past him. Shooter kicks his feet out and initiates contact. There’s a reason that kicking out isn’t allowed.
