Because money paid through a co-op is income. Scholarship money is not. Besides, there are non athletes getting room and board, meals and academic support other than athletes. It’s not like there are just 85 students on the whole campus who aren’t paying tuition. So are regular students going to get a check? Not unless Oprah shows up.
If a academic student does a coop program that money is taxed. Why not the privileged athletes?
Are the players not asking to be paid? That would be wages.Because money paid through a co-op is income. Scholarship money is not. Besides, there are non athletes getting room and board, meals and academic support other than athletes. It’s not like there are just 85 students on the whole campus who aren’t paying tuition.
