Might be time to move one or both of these guys to offense. Duncan especially looks to have his highest upside at OT. Neither will sniff the field this year at DL and I don’t see either doing so next year either.

Obviously, OLine is a huge area of need with this team. If Duncan and Robinson make that switch now, start working on that position, they’re likely in the mix to play next year.

We lose a ton of DL next year. They are both likely playing a lot of snaps.
I've been kinda obsessing over the OL and our needs going into what we all hope will be Nico's debut season and after looking at the guys we lose up and down the roster, it's kinda depressing. We're going to be very, very young and will be lacking depth at several positions. Gonna need youngsters to grow up mighty damned fast, and we need to crush it in the portal. I know Heupel won't want to run kids off, but he's going to need every possible slot he can get. Some tough, tough decisions are needed and this staff has to be absolutely spot on in their evals in the portal. Just can't have misses like we apparently have had in this last group. Gotta hit 'em all.

The following OL all have another year of eligibility if wanted.
D. Davis OT
G. Mincey OT
J. Cambell OT (recently received and extra year if wanted)
C. Mays C
J. Spraggins OG
J. Lampley OG
A. Karic OG

Everyone has assumed most will leave, but I don't think any of them will receive a high draft grade.

Volnation position change suggestions are always my favorite.

It should be a crime that schools don't have an analyst just posted up on this board looking for "diamond in the rough" future coaches and staff. Heck, we'd probably be on our 4th or 5th undefeated season at this point.......coaching circles must be like political parties "lets keep the benefits and power to ourselves.....no outsiders or those who don't tow the line."

We lose a lot. OL is just one spot. We'll need a lot of the youngsters to grow up fast. That's why we need to get these kids into the games earlier and more often. Not to be repetitive, but we need to be spot on in and be very, very aggressive in the portal.

Yea I don't think people realize how young we are going to be. Yes covid year could bring back a lot but that's quite a few ifs. Our WRs, TEs, OL, LBs, DBs, DL are all senior heavy or have seniors as the primary players.

Anyone on the roster over 6’4” we can move to TE?

And while we're at it, I think we need to move Jackson Ross to QB. I hear he's got a very good arm for a punter. Mobile, too. A real threat.

Didn't realize Ross played QB.

Duncan's high school coach said his highest upside is at OT. He was listed as an ATH by at least one recruiting service. It's not like the notion of him (or Robinson) playing OL is out of left field, so a sarcastic false equivalency isn't the flex you think it is.

Tennessee loses Omari Thomas at DT and Baron at SDE next year, but everyone else can (and likely will) come back. Duncan and Robinson probably aren't going to pass Eason, Simmons, Hobbs, Weathersby, West, Bailey, or Norman-Lott on the DT/SDE depth chart. Gentle and Heard will also be coming in. But we do need OTs next year.

Their current draft grade is -72 after the last 3 games

2024 roster will reflect the disaster Jeremy Pruitt left us with. The disaster 2021 class and the 12 scholarship reductions over 2022 and 2023 classes is obvious now. This recruiting class is the real first class Heupel and staff hasnt been limited by at least 6 less scholarships to offer and having to deal with heavy negative recruiting due the NCAA threats by opposing coaches. I do know the scholarship reductions has impacted their portal activity over the last 2 years.

Even if that were the correct move to get the players in the best position to contribute, you could not make that switch now with a Fr and expect good results.

Those guys are future investments. I suspect that one or both will be good contributors on the DL in the future or perhaps on the OL. But their time isn't now.

The "best" solution is to work the bugs out of what you have now. The problems are fixable and if they aren't with a particular player then there are other options. The exception appears to be at Center. Nichols was signed apparently with the idea of developing him as a C. For whatever reason, he hasn't come along. He's apparently not a better option than Lane, Davis, or even Parker Ball at C.

Hopefully if Nichols isn’t the answer at center he is capable at another position. He was so highly rated it would be a downer if he doesn’t develop into at least a very good college player. I thought he would at least be at second string somewhere on the chart at this point. GBO

Crawford graded out a 26 in Sat's game. That's a really low grade. Surely we have better linemen. If not O is in big trouble.
