As many of you have now noticed, the wheels are falling off again right around the same time they began falling off last year. It is clear that Tennessee, due to a lack of in-state talent and a much more competitive recruiting environment, will never rise to prominence unless we begin to cheat. This is no longer the 90s. With that being said, we should hire a professional to teach our staff how to pay players without getting caught. Auburn did it, USC did it, and Alabama does it (dirtiest boosters in the business). If we don't start cheating ya'll should get used to more 5-6 win seasons. I hate it, but the time has come. And if we get caught? Who cares? I'd rather not even have a football team than suffer through 6 win seasons. The up-side is too attractive here. Cheating makes the most sense. So let's find the next Cam Newton and pay up.

I would say go ahead and cheat, and not worry about the NCAA since they don't seem to enforce anyway.

....but I have a feeling UT would be just big enough without the national following for them to make an example of. Mo Couch knows this better than anyone. HaHa Clinton Dix just laughs.

get a life....it's a bunch of kids playing a game. If your happiness depends on UT winning a game you have other issues that need to be addressed!

They haven't signed anything yet. We will have a good recruiting class THIS year, but we will probably only win 6 again next year, so the chances of maintaining our momentum for the next 2 or 3 classes are not good........unless we cheat!!

Alabama payed their players in the 90's and they still couldn't beat us. Solid coaching and depth on the roster is all we need.

You're statement would be correct IF we had not already invested in state-of-the-art facilities, a 100,000+ seat stadium, the highest recruiting budget in the SEC, etc. It's more than just a game now. And the last time I checked, men stopped being "kids" at 18, when they can go to war and vote.
You're attitude is fine if we bolt to the ACC. Since that ain't happening, I agree with the OP. We need to learn to cheat.

I'm sure we did too, just didn't get busted. We certainly had a lot of criminals on those 90s teams. Unfortunately this is not the 90s anymore. Recruiting is just a lot more competitive now and we don't have the same appeal we used to......unless we cheat!

I think there is probably more talent in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Texas, Alabama, Michigan and California than "in-state" in Tennessee. There is some good talent in Tennessee and probably in the east or west part of the state. You can see which teams are doing well most of the time(FSU, Bama, Georgia, Ohio St., LSU).
