Time to Start the "Positive Talk" about UT's Football Future

can someone start a new thread - as it appears i dont have access - see below on what i heard...

Greatest rumor is that the big 3 alumni have met with a coach and already made a decision. They have informed Hart & Pres Cheek that since the university is not in a position to pay Dooley's buyout nor able to sign a gaurantee & commit more monay for the new coach, that the university need not worry about it. They told Hart that an agreement is already in place and to just worry about public perception.

The big 3's have met and come to a financial agreement with a coach. Their goal was to meet with Gruden and work their best angles (which include Peyton) to come to an agreement. If that didn't work, they were to go to Golden or Stoops (who's ready to exit his 7yr deal with Sooners). There was a 3rd & 4th option (u've heard the names). The big 3 don't trust a guy (Hart) being 13months on the job to make a decision for the welfare of the city and the use of the big 3's money (after all travel in and out East Tenn affects Pilots gas sales, right).

So nonetheless, rumor has it that the coaching decision has already been made and that we can sit back and relax. The announcement delay is for the university and Hart to not look like they did a backside deal. But it is a backside deal (like how all of college football works). For us, the question is, whether they were able to close a deal with Gruden or if they had to go to option 2-4. They would not make public that ability to close the deal with option #1 until everything is finalized because then they would lose all leverage for future (like when Muschamp publicly turned us down).

Expect something before Dec 17th.

This place has become so negative that some may never recover. I am very positive, but even I have become negative.

I am ready for a bright future. I really think things will change this time.

LOL....so your saying Hart is a puppet to the big 3. I am sure he is counting on financial support, but told to sit back, that we got this...smells like BS.

Soooo...when Hart indicated he was not using a national search team...that he got this one, and has done it many times....would translate into, I've got the big 3 search committee.

That just seems to be out there a bit.

Positivity on VolNation? What's gonna happen to the 87.9% of those who are incapable of doing so?

Cut people some slack.

You have 1 sec win in the last 15. And that was in overtime against vandy at home.

Even stuart smalley's positivity well is dry

I just hope the selection is handled well, with an announcement coming shortly after the season is over

I am not saying I believe the rumor, but just posting what I heard as I had not seen this rumor in any of the other threads.

It's cool guy....there seems to be other posts based on this one as well. Not being on the inside, I just shake my head at some of this booster mafia stuff being posted.

Could be some truth here, but very strange to hear how this is supposed to play out...such as Hart to step away from the table and let the boosters seal the deal.

It won't be long until we will be back in title contention in the SEC. When the new coach is announced, recruits will show a re-newed interest in UT. It has already started with the linebacker, E J Levenberry, a Fla. St. commit who said he was now interested in Tn. now that Dooley is gone. He had offers from every major program in the country. Tn may also have a good shot of landing Derek Green and possibly the **** linebacker Nick Ramirez that just de-commited from Mizzou. It's looking up Vol fans!!!!

Now you want to be positive??? We needed positivity months ago. Not generate a cloud of negativity that came to engulf the program and season to the pt of disaster. We have no coach and don't know anything about how the new one will do or if he'll even stay after his first season. Even if the guy has a good season next yr I won't jump on his train cause it won't be the first time a coach has a good first yr then turns out to drop off from there. Or even finding a coach that will truly see this as his dream job.

Just gonna sit back and see what happens. I didn't get my hopes up to much before this season and was probably one of the most realistic going into it. It's all y'all that got your hopes up and then started to whine when things got tough. I'd say VN is pathetic but it's truly just the people on here and people in general that make me sometimes hope that the Mayan calendar theorist are right.

This lets be positive bs is a little to late DB...

Yes I herd this and it can be herd on the Tony Basillo show. I hope it is true. But we can't be certain. Furthermore, I certainly hope it's Gruden and not Golden

Here is some positive for you. Gruden cancelled being a speaker at the annual Alumni Dinner where he recieved his degree. Said he was going to be occupied this Saturday, and apoligized for not being able to make it. Seems The University of Dayton has another football grad that has agreed to take his place, Chuck Noll. CTI is the group that scheduled his appearence. They claim it is an extended Thanksgiving visit to the in-laws. Some of you may be getting your wish after all.

So, who's in charge of stake-out duty over at Chestnut Hill/Jefferson County. Volnation needs for people to volunteer/sign-up to stake out (stalk) the folks in this picture and post any/all sightings on Volnation.

Please be careful if you follow one of these folks into Cocke County. I suspect it's still legal to shoot stalkers in the CC.

Regardless, the firing of Dooley has been the highlight of this season and frankly I'm excitedly positive during this thankgiving week. I'm actually excited to see us play this weekend without Dooley- I'm pulling for the seniors. I'm excited for the future, its like an unopened Christmas present. This is like my birthday, halloween and Christmas all rolled into one. Okay maybe not that awesome, but hope does wonders for the spirit. Lets go Vols.
