The broadcasters mentioned that Ty Simpson grew up a rabid UT fan. I’m sure he would be a nice fit in this offense.

But QB recruiting - especially for the top couple of teams - wraps up well over a year in advance. Saban gave him a deadline and he had to answer way too soon for Heupel to have a chance. Not to worry. We appear to be in good shape anyway.

Does it really matter? Great QB is a great QB. I don't care if they grew up all vol. That doesn't mean he will pan out. I have confidence this staff and team will attract top QB talent. And it's amusing reading opposing fans forums dissing HH and anticipating a massive drop off after he's gone. We'll see.

That is hard to figure. Everyone knows that we have a 5 star QB coming in. I say everyone knows that, because Nico Iamaleava's NIL deal is talked about whenever Tennessee's recruiting is mentioned.

My mother knows him. She worked at as a server at a restaurant in Martin, and he would come in with his family. Says he is a great kid, and was torn but ultimately chose Alabama.

She watches our games casually because I’m a big fan and alum, so she roots for us. She knew apparently he was good, but not how good. She told me about him while I was talking about the upcoming Alabama game a few weeks ago, and explained that their main quarterback might not start. She asked me “I wonder if ‘my Ty’ will be in the game?”

So I looked him up, and imagine my surprise when I find he’s a 5 star QB and was like 2nd best in TN and 3rd best QB in his class? I told her he almost certainly wouldn’t, that if the BY was out then Milroe would probably play

I had told her the prevailing theory going around was that we probably beat Alabama if Milroe played but lose if Bryce did (once again, I was wrong, happily :)). She was like “Good, I don’t want him getting blamed for the loss.” Lol.

We know that but most of our opposing fans I don't think know much beyond what they see on the field now and their judgements of even that is suspect lol.

Milton's time to step up and take command of this offense and give us a glimpse of the future is now. He does a good job we might even get to see Jackson sling it.

UT will end up with his younger brother. His younger brother got his 1st offer from Oregon when he was in the 6th grade. His brother is a 8th grader this year.

I don’t have kids, but would you want your 5 star going to Tennessee under previous staffs? Too many unknowns with Heupel at the time on Simpson’s commitment.

Simpson may or may not pan out but there's a LOTTA time between now and him signing on the dotted line. I mean if I was an Alabama fan I'd be sweating that but we're playing with house money here in Tennessee lol

Just saying if he came out a year later and watched this offense, he would be ours. But heupel had a matter of days to sell him. Oh well, if things don’t work out at Bama (and we need a QB) keep the door open.

This. Of course I would because I’ll a huge Tennessee fan but objectively speaking it might not have appeared to be what’s best for the kid at the time we are talking about. Doesn’t mean a kids parents don’t like Tennessee or even that the kid didn’t.

I’m so happy CJH has proven amazing and is doing what he’s doing, but even amongst these hollowed message boards there was plenty of doubt even just a year ago.

Same situation with Trevor Lawrence awhile back. Grew up a Vol fan his whole life, room was orange and everything. But Butch Jones wasn’t the right fit and he made the right choice.

Right. It's as if they say no way a former D1 QB can coach a QB. It isn't as if HH was lighting it up at Va Tech
