im so sick of hearing about defence...do you know anything about football?...your offence has to be able to move the ball to give the defence a break Worley cant even pick up first downs aka kills us on D cause we are shallow on depth...do I think we win today if we did probly not but we be a hell of a lot better...Worley is the problem I think dobbs maybe the future liked very good if WR's can catch that is
Ridiculous post. First off, you might want to actually spell offense and defense correctly before you start spouting off. The problem today was everywhere, all 3 phases, but particularly the fact that Bama moved up and down the field, almost as though we didn't have a defense (yes, with an s) all day long. Bama didn't even punt til the 4th quarter.
Did Worley play particularly well? No. But he was not the reason they lost. Brendan Downs evidently tripped over the chalk yard line on a play that Worley read well. He made a good throw but Downs fell down with no one within 10 yds of him.... would've been a big play and kept the drive alive but it wasn't.... because of Downs, not Worley.
Worley also made a nice throw on the first drive down the left sideline. Croom seemed totally out of sorts and alligator armed the ball, missed it by 2 yards... guarantee you an Alabama WR or even North catches that ball. Would've been a big play. Don't even get me started on Josh Smith.
But the bottom line is we could've scored 6 TDs today and we would've lost because the defense was non existent. Oh yeah, and don't forget the long TD pass called back on a questionable penalty vs Cooper... that's 7 more Pts that we would've lost by. Finally, we didn't come within a country freakin mile of sacking McCarron today.
I, like most fans, understand the concept of the offense moving the ball to help the defense. How about the defense, even once, getting off the field so that the offense has an opportunity to get in a rhythm and score. Not happening today chief.
I'm very happy that Dobbs came into the game today and hope like hell he starts the rest of the season. But I'm not so damn irrational and childish that I watched that game today and fall back on the ridiculous excuse that "it was Worley's fault!" It wasn't.
