. . . .but I'm afraid that's where we're headed. Buckle in folks, it's going to be a long, long journey back to relevance.

You get coaching changes when your a.d. keeps hiring third tier coaches if and when they decide to hire a real coach they might start winning again until then welcome to 6-6 at best football

At this point in UT's football program, changing coaches is not an option....so settle in, buckle up, it's going to be a long, long way back

I argued for Fulmer to get a chance to turn it around after 2005 for this very reason. Once you get on the coaching carousel... you never know when you will make the right hire to get off.

Unfortunately, you are probably right. Financially, it probably isn't a possibility for at least 2 more years if then.

I'm tired of sitting on screw up coaches for 3 years. Bring guys in on a one year contract and go through them at a record pace until you find a good one.

I don't know of you're aware of this, but there were a lot of coaches who turned this job down

Ignorant post :lolabove:
If you would look into the program a little bit a see what this new coaching staff is doing in Knoxville (notably some of the best recruiting we have seen in several years), then you would not make that statement. Don't get me wrong, I am as discouraged as anyone over the loss, but let's not jump to foolish conclusions.

It's too early to make a judgment on Butch Jones. But 2 years from tonight we'll know what kind of coach we have and whether he will be the coach from 2016 and beyond.

Butch will get 4 years. He'll get us to midpack in the SEC, then we'll finally stop trawling the lower-tier conferences and get somebody with the right resume. Or we'll pull another Groundhog Day and hire Austin Peay's coach and expect him to win in the SEC.

Yep. Neither Kiffin, nor Dooley had anything in their resumes to commend them to a job of this magnitude.

Bama broke out the checkbook and went for broke. As much as I hate them Bamers...at least their AD showed better sense than our own. And that's why we're paying for it.

Auburn had a worse year than we did, last year...hired a good coach, who hired some PROVEN assistants. Ours didn't. That's why they are playing Bama next week for the western division title and we have sunk to yet another historical low....losing to Vandy back to back. Insane. Some or both coordinators are going to have to go.
