'26 TN ATH Joel Wyatt

We’re recruiting him as an edge

Like I said, he should easily be able to add enough weight to play Edge.

Lmao, good one. Guess they figure they can put 50lbs on that 6ft4in frame. Guessing he has an elite 1st step/quickness. Could you imagine how much you have to eat as a kid that is naturally skinny at 190lbs to put on...then maintain...an extra 50lbs of muscle? Thats a 7 year old. Bout 50lbs. Excited to see this guy in Orange. Hope he commits to the good guys soon.

To be fair he doesn’t need 50 lbs of straight muscle. He’s not competing for a bodybuilding trophy. But he’ll definitely have to Eat with a capital E. It can be done. Not easy tho!

An edge?! How much weight they think he could add? I get the safety grow into a linebacker thing but that’s a big shift (especially if he doesn’t play on the line in high school - which I have no idea if he does).
He’s already a bigger than some of our current edges were at same stage.

I’d be cool with a Kyle Hamilton type roaming around in the secondary. But if he’s as athletic as he sounds just get him on campus and see how his first year of S&C goes

When's the last time we brought someone in transitioning positions they haven't normally played and they excelled? Besides Aaron Beasley, I can't really think of anyone who saw the field.

I'm sure Fans were saying the same thing about Javon Freak Kearse from Fla who was long athletic skinny freak who grew up and became All Pro Rush End for Titans. Wyatt has similar build and freak athletic abilities. Now I have no idea what he blossoms into time will tell but this is what coaches see of his potential down the road. In CHRIST Alone

This is a great example, and yes, is obviously the exception, not the rule. But this is exactly who came to my mind as the ceiling for a guy who grew into different positions. Played Safety in HS, transitioned to LB at Florida, and played DE in the NFL, and was all-world at each position at each level.

Curt Maggitt is a Tennessee example and maybe more realistic goal for Wyatt.

If this guy can get to say 210lbs and retain that speed he would be a freak athlete at Safety or even Nickel. Like DK Metcalf but on defense. Dont see him putting on 40 or 50lbs to play OLB/Edge though. Regardless, he is one of the best athletes in TN and I will be extremely happy for him to be a VOL. Glad CJH has put much effort into building a fence around TN and making sure we get most of the best instate prospects.
This is just me. If he is anywhere in that mold-a 6'4" 220lbs kid who has even close to 4.4-4.5 speed AND can catch, that seems like an elite WR to me.
Who knows, kid may want to play D and with coaches encouragement, may pack on the muscle and make the transition.
Do all the services have him being recruited as a WR? His other offers, wonder if they are offering to play him at WR?

If I’m not mistaken, it was said that he used to talk the uf coaches into letting him play DB during practice and he would shut their receivers down
