The 6-foot-5, 285-pound thomas said he was on his way to knoxville on saturday morning with teammate jabari small, a class of 2020 athlete who has received an early scholarship offer from central michigan.
Thomas, who picked up an offer from new tennessee coach jeremy pruitt's staff in january, will be visiting the vols for the first time as a recruit. He said he most recently traveled to tennessee's campus when he was in middle school to practice for the kentucky vs. Tennessee future stars game. The vols indicated to him in january that they were recruiting him to play on the defensive line.
At least 15 schools already have extended offers to thomas, including ole miss, memphis, auburn, lsu, arkansas, oklahoma, texas a&m, mississippi state, south carolina and georgia tech. Ole miss has hosted him on at least three visits since last month.
Thomas is ranked by 247sports as the no. 42 overall prospect and no. 9 offensive tackle in the 2020 class and the no. 2 sophomore from the state of tennessee.
