I'm pretty sure if we go to NIT we would have a top seed and we would be a host school right?
The women's NCAA tourney is in Knoxville.
There may be some dates crossed over and possibly too much of an overload of organizing?
Yes, no, or stupid?

They will not put us in the NCAAs because of an inability to host an NIT game. If anything, they would just send us on the road in the NIT.
But, the Women's NCAAs are played Sat.-Tues. I'm sure the NIT home games could be scheduled around that.

You had a typo there...where instead of why.

Seriously though have to wonder why teams even bother.. Think the last time I watched one was when we played memphis in early 90's.. NIT just irrelevant and I have always thought, "who buys those tickets?".

It does beg the question of where we would play in the NIT.

I'm surprised more teams don't decline. Seems like a lot of them just don't give a crap, like UT last year.

Was Maymon out for both games?

He played the 2nd game, and I want to say he re aggravated it. Remember, with about 8 minutes to go, Golden hurt his knee, UT was up by 10 and MTSU won.

Someone last season in the NIT had to play on the road even though they were better seed, this won't get us into the dance lol.

I'm sure that CCM would never turn down an opportunity to play and get better regardless of what Tourney it is. Players can get hurt at any time. Ballers want to PLAY!

I think the NIT is ok if you're a team that barely finished .500, or if you're from a small conference that only gets one team in the dance and you were upset in your conference tourney.

But for a team like UT that would have barely not made the NCAAT, I can't see what good it will be. Last year proved the extra playing time didn't do much, and historically there is no real correlation between it and future success. The only good I can see is it lets the seniors put on the uniform a few more times.

For the fans, it means jack squat, and on top of that we're already let down by not making the dance. I'm sure Martin would accept the bid, but I'm not really going to care that much.

National irrelevant tournament... Weak minded team can't win when it matters. Who even cares about the garbage losers bracket.

NIT is no different than the lower tier bowl games. No chance at national title but get to play another game for the fans
