This kid is a Vandy legacy. He's probably headed there and end up in the portal later.

His dad is the head coach at FIU. Why not just go there if you don't care about winning football games and playing in front of fans?
Vanderbilt legacies are raised thinking they can bring the program respectability. Most feel like James Franklin proved that you can win in football at Vandy. Don't shoot the messenger. Just answering your question.

I didn't connect the dots that this was Mike's son. He coached when I lettered for the Pacers.

I mean Vanderbilt is a pretty “decent” academic university as well.

That's been their recruiting pitch forever. Play in the SEC and get a top notch degree for life after football.

I’m sure they’re out there but I can’t name one famous/ powerful person who went to Vandy? Maybe an actor or actress but nobody in business or politics. I’m sure it’s just ignorance on my part, but I can name people who went to UT/ UGA/ Auburn and would have to do a Google search for Vandy.

There are tons of wealthy people who wouldn't fall under the category of "famous". It really has more to do with how your degree is valued by employers for the majority of your graduates. A degree from Vanderbilt still carries much more clout vs. the vast majority of universities when seeking employment. Very few make it to the NFL, so after college, almost all are just like the rest of us

Power doesn't necessarily equate to fame. Powerful/wealthy Vandy alums are out there (likely in each of the areas you referenced, but definitely in business).

It's strange how things go. We have Nico committed as our QB and we all want to keep him. But it's an oddity that per On3's rating of '23 in-state talent, there are four 4, ⭐⭐⭐⭐ QBs in Tenn this year; almost 5, because the guy at Knox Catholic is just a whisker short of being a 4 star. I have never seen so many before. I think they are all four committed... Ole Miss, Pitt, Ms St, and the other one is going to Ohio St.
