When we have to "pre-prepare" for something like this so far in advance, it shows what kind of people you have running an incompentent organization like the NCAA, because you're just anticipating them to bungle something and become overly-aggressive in a feeble attempt to maintain 'control' to 'protect the student athlete'

what a bunch of goobs

It’s a good feeling to have competent and smart people running our athletic department, something that had been sorely lacking in the past.

This can't be overstated. The leadership in our athletic department was extremely poor for many years until Danny White finally got here.

There were a couple of years where an argument could have been made we had the least successful athletic department in the SEC. We were simply bad at almost everything. And there was little hope for change given good coaches wouldn't come here to work under the stooges we had in charge.

Read that article this morning. The administration for the University of Tennessee is top flight. Drawing up battle plans before there was a battle. They call that a preemptive strike.

Yet thankfully we were somehow able to get Barnes and Tony V before White. But Danny White has done a good job at keeping them plus completing the triptych with Heupel

It wasn’t just the athletic department. The incompetence in leadership went all the way to the top of the university for about 20 years.

The NCAA typically deals with institutions by blind siding them if they can. Automatically the institutions then are on the defensive. UTAD and the whole Chancellor's staffs were ahead of the NCAA and kept the NCAA on the defensive. They became reactive and were not used to managing from behind so kudos to UT the institution for handing the NCAA their hats.

Top flight administration in the athletic department is one of the most undercooked things when looking at a championship level program.

Well, you know, strategists have long insisted that the best defense is a good offense. By , uh, ahem, umm, neutralizing the enemy before they can mount an offense, you don't need a defense.

We learned at the SC game in late 2022-doesnt matter how great your offense is, occasionally you need the D to step up.

Well, I didn't invent the best defense is a good offense strategy. And uh, most post related to legal maneuvering, not football. And it was just fooling around with another fan's post. But you know, you're right just the same, having a viable defense is far better than having no defense at all. Something better be back there in case of a break through. Sorry, Sherman, sorry, Patton, Stolitonic is right.

Wow, after reading this article, I can’t believe we were preemptive in the situation. We have got a helluva of administration now. I can’t imagine this happening 10 years ago, we’ve come a long way with the people up top.
