Women's Swimming and Men's Tennis: the two best athletic programs at Tennessee. (Excellent coaching staffs)
Coming on strong: Baseballl (National Championship Series) and Soccer (SEC Tournament Champs last year).
Good but not elite: Men's basketball, Men's Swimming (Second in 2022 SEC Championship but no program can challenge Florida in men's swimming--winner of last 10 men's swimming titles).
Above average but far from elite: Volleyball, Women's Tennis
Decent but a Long Way To Go: Rowing, Football, Golf (Yes, I've lumped football in with Rowing and Golf.)
Once Elite but Questions, Questions, Questions: Women's Basketball, Softball
What happened with our rowing team? They used to be really good & you could catch them on tv from time to time. But that's been a while ... Golf was strong, too.
Don’t really remember that ever being the case. They made the NCAA Championships as a team a couple of times, but they’ve never been great. Don’t recall ever seeing collegiate rowing on TV, either.
UT Golf recruiting was ranked 5th until getting a commit from a top world amateurWomen's Swimming and Men's Tennis: the two best athletic programs at Tennessee. (Excellent coaching staffs)

Bama, no. You want a year by year finish since 2010. Anyway Bama has finished ahead of UT in conference only twice since 2010. So that in and of itself shows who has the better rowing program. UTAgree: I've never seen collegiate rowing on TV, and we've never been really good. We're a solid tier 2 rowing program that the coach has struggled to significantly improve. For example, bama has had a better rowing program than us for years, I believe, and bama is a tier two program. Our first goal, I should think, would be to start beating bama. I don't think most SEC schools even have rowing, which is why I believe we compete in the Big 12 regatta at end of season. Many years ago I watched the Head of the Charles competition with a bunch of Dartmouth fans, and on that day saw a couple of our boats. That was fun.
Here is someone else with zero facts.Don’t really remember that ever being the case. They made the NCAA Championships as a team a couple of times, but they’ve never been great. Don’t recall ever seeing collegiate rowing on TV, either.
