I'm almost always cautious of hyping up 8th grader or 9th graders that get college offers.
Or they get awarded freshman all-american or something like that.

Seeing this kid's tape. I have no worries. He's going to be a player that actually improves.
He's lanky, runs a little clumsily, but then you see bursts of speed when he gets his body where it needs to go.
- that means a lot wasted motion (supposed to be that way at 14 years old)
- strength levels not at peak (see above)
- raw speed hard to control (needs training see above)
- probably not done growing ( THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT)

Still not gonna hype this kid too much, but he looks to be as special a skill player
to come out of East Tennessee in a long time. He'll probably UGA, Bama, LSU, Texas offers by the beginning of his junior year.

Man, I’m trying hard to figure out what you are doing? Everything you just said, is what ANYONE would say about a 14 year old.

No. There's more kids maturing quicker than they should these days
Devrin Young
Demetrius Howard
Dorian Banks and many many more.

Stop trying to find ways to criticize me, and actually just try ask where I'm coming from, perhaps.

If you don't like me, then just stop interacting.
I have a life to live and am not going to waste it arguing....

“My first game at UT was Akron for a visit, and I was like, ‘Dang,’” King said. “Ever since, it’s been my dream school.”
“It’s going to be tough to beat them,” he said.
“I liked how Coach was teaching us how they run their plays, their offense — all that type of stuff,” King said. “It was all football, all great talks. He talked about life, too — not just football — about how he can make me a better man in life.

“I liked it. I liked it a lot.”
“I spent a lot of time with him,” King said of Pope. “Got to talk to him more, got to know him a little bit more. I talked to him most — him and Coach Cook. … You can tell when (Pope) keeps it real with you.”
“It’s great,” King said. “I like how they widen out at wideout. It’s amazing to me.”

Coached HS sports for 16 years and he’s spot on 110%. Idk what you’re replying about.
I’ve been in sports as long as I have been alive. Coached as well. There are thousands of 14 year olds that mature faster than everyone else and then fade when others catch up. Hyping a 14 year old kid is crazy to me. I would say probably half of the kids we had that were stars as a 12-13 year old, were either ordinary players or out of the sport by their senior year.

100% agree. The examples are countless in that age bracket, BUT I’d argue that if you CAN see that the kid is clumsy, weak, and lacking in areas you likely can tell he shows much room for improvement on AND YET he’s already fast as heck (for example), then you can postulate that it’s likely the kid is going to grow into even more athleticism.

Franklin I’m like a year late to this reply.
But I said exactly what you said haha.

Why did you question what I was saying??
My VERY FIRST SENTENCE was pretty much exactly what you said here.

To be clear some guys looked like supermen as freshman at 14 years old (Devrin Young, Corey Booker, Demetrius Howard, etc)
They didn’t run or were built like any 14 year old.
They had already peaked at 14 years old.

This kid- from a biomechanics standpoint- still had the balance of a 14 year old still growing into his body with glimpses of raw speed and talent. Those other guys were moving at their peak already even tho they were just 14.

Marcus Lattimore will always standnout to me as an example. Byrnes HS played Belle Glade from Florida back when Lattimore was 14 years old.
He got in the game late, and ran for a TD after the game was already in hand. (ESPN aired it)

But Lattimore was already 6’0 and maybe 165 lbs. He was terribly skinny and gangly but still ran with good pad level. 3 years later he was a
5 star RB that everyone was after and was 6’0 215 and was very good. But he still looked very undeveloped at 14 years old.

This kid was similar to that.

Four-star Class of 2025 offensive tackle Juan Gaston, a Top247 prospect from Westlake High School in Atlanta, is scheduled to visit the Vols the weekend of June 14, his mother told 247Sports' Anna Adams.
"I dominated (one-on)-ones," he said. "I didn't lose a rep, so (Pope liked) that."
"I learned my breakdown, my body weight, dropping my weight body — make sure I stay over my toes and not get all over the place," King said. "Stay square, not letting the defender know where I'm going before the route starts."
"They're high on my list right now, of course," King said. "I like it. I like it a lot."
King said he has been talking with "pretty much all the coaches" at Tennessee, including Heupel, Pope and Joey Halzle, the Vols' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He said he recently has been hearing from Tennessee a "couple times a week."
"We're going to stay in touch in the long run," King said. "I know they're going to let me know in the future where they need me to be and where they want me to be, if I can make it."

Future Slot guy I'm guessing. Is he a track guy?
I think he can hold up on the outside. He was 6'0 as a sophomore so he should grow maybe another inch or two maybe. His QB Jayden Neal was having a rough game but Tyreek was getting open vs Kaleb Beasley in the game I went to. If he can be more consistent against the top corners this year and put on some weight his stock could really rise imo

He scored 2 or 3 times against Baylor last year.

He’s still young. He may be done growing??
But he can still stronger for sure

Baylor's defense was rough. I'm not worried about it as they had a stud slot guy that was one of the best players in the state last year. Walked on here actually in Braylon Harmon. As King takes that next step this year, he's going to have to be the guy which he is definitely capable of.

Deion Thomas, Tyreek King, Travis Johnson, and Aaron Gregory all have reiterated their plans to visit this fall. As for King, the local target continues to show why he is and has been, such a priority for the Vols. He went for right at 200 yards last week and four touchdowns and Tennessee continues to show well in this recruitment as he has connected with multiple staff members.

The four-star Class of 2026 wide receiver from nearby Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic High School released a list of his upcoming visits Friday afternoon in a post on his Twitter account, revealing that Tennessee is set to host him for two of its home games over the next several weeks. The Vols are one of seven different teams he plans to visit within a span of approximately eight weeks, starting with a trip to Texas A&M this weekend.
The 5-foot-10.5, 168-pound King's list of visits includes stops at Tennessee next weekend for the Vols' home game against Kent State and Oct. 19 for their showdown with rival Alabama. Tennessee hosted him May 25 for its "865 Live" event, and he returned a week later to participate in the Vols' Night at Neyland camp on June 1.
