Criticisms of AJ were warranted last year. This game he's looked great. I hope he continues to play at this level.

Remember that he would be purposely miscast last year too as an OLB/pass rusher. Maggitt is back, Reeves-Maybin is there, Vereen helps with the pass rush - all of that allows AJ to do what he does best.

Any critique of AJ (or our defense as a whole last year) was warranted. We were slow and didn't perform as well as expected. They look great tonight vs. an offense that is supposed to be explosive. It is good to see.

For what? Utah St hasn't been very impressive. Nobody questions his heart just his speed & coverage ability. We'll see as year goes along & it's not like anybody was against him just calling it like it is.

Go play with BeattieFeathers and complain about how we only won 38-7. We don't take kindly to your type around here.

He's really improved in the off-season

In much better shape, much quicker, and playing with a higher football IQ.

He helped us a lot coming back and helped himself $$ wise (moving up in the draft).

He does look a little quicker. Nice to see some good plays in coverage.

Go be a fairweather fan and leave the people that want to enjoy the win alone. I swear, my 9 year old cries less when she doesn't get the toy she wants in her happy meal. Edited for your viewing pleasure.

Fairweather fan? You have a handful of posts & nobody has said anything that wasn't true. Hope you're pumping sunshine all year.

Concur, different looking player. Even though he wasn't bad before. Eager to see him against OK, GA, and FL.

His teammates also look faster, stronger. It's amazing what u can do when u have a good supporting cast.

I saw a lot of good plays from all of the linebackers. I just hope they look as impressive against SEC offenses.

I disagree with those here who say last year's criticism was warranted. AJ was put in situations he should have not been in last year (rushing passer, covering TE, etc). He also played FAR too many snaps.

Note the sportswriters AND SEC coaches agree with me: AJ was named to the 2013 Associated Press All-SEC First Team, the 2013 SEC Coaches All-SEC First Team, the 2013 Athlon Sports All-SEC First Team, and the 2013 Sporting News' All-SEC First Team.

Go Vols!!!
