To all that decommit over Kiffin leaving like a @#$%@@ coward that he is, I have a message for you....go. We dont want you here, if you want to abandon the program like he did then you didnt want to wear the orange and white anyways. The University of Tennessee and the fans here didnt wrong you, it was scumbag Kiffin and company. To all of the Tennessee recruits that follow a guy like Kiffin, you get what you deserve.

I'm with you man. Get players that want to play for the school, not the coaches. If they leave us now, they will leave us or hurt us later. I think of guys like Nukeese, who didn't care at all for the university, just himself and how the coaches could help him personally. Get those players out, and move forward with the new coach, and what players he wants to bring back. I remember Kiffin turning down Tahj Boyd last year because he wasn't his type, that might or might not have been the right call, but different coaches have different directions... So it should all pan out for us in the long run.

It's not fair to give the kids a hard time if they de-commit over this. "Play for the University" is an absurd statement. They need to do what is best for them, and they just got crapped on harder than us Vol Fans.

I don't blame them for decomitting and going someplace else if they were coming here for the staff. I do however think it'd be dumb of them to go to USC after Kiffin's already showed the kind of guy he is.

Put yourself in their shoes. If your a big player and you are committed to come into this sh*tstorm, or your son is committed to come here, why in the world wouldn't you consider going somewhere else? This athletic program has been an absolute mess over the past 12 months, and it just got a lot worse yesterday. They were betrayed. Why wouldn't they look elsewhere....

Yeah, I would go in the opposite direction of the OP. I would like to apologize to the guys that were sweet talked into enrolling early and getting locked into this situation by Kiffin. Most people might not agree, but I think that if they want out you should release them and wish them luck. The staff sold these recruits on their connections and what they could do to get them into the NFL. I'm not sure how much selling of the University was done.

Obviously I wish they'd all stay, but if they feel betrayed then let them pursue better options for them. They're the ones who's lives just got upended without warning.

+10000000000. It's just football. These are young men's lives. They deserve to make the right decision.

Kiffin won't leave USC. That's the dream job for him, he always said so. We were hoping this same thing would happen at Florida when the ND job opened up, and we rejoiced when Carroll left and we had a shot at Prater again. Had USC never offered, Kiffin would have been here for a while, long enough for Peyton to retire at least. At least he even left us with more of that Kiffin-style ESPN coverage. All on purpose, surely. I'll miss that, but it'll be nice not to have to make excuses for a b.s. artist! You know what I'm saying, right Gators?
As for the kids, we all sold them on our superior coaching staff as the reason they should choose UT. Those guys left, so the kids are going to look around, esp since we don't really have a coach right now. Again, just like with Prater. Don't blame them.. It's a huge decision, and who coaches them is important. We have time. If we make the right hire, we'll be fine. We don't have to have a top 5 class, just a coach that gets good production with the guys we do get. We had that high rated class recently with Donald and co and I doubt we do any worse than that. Don't worry, guys! By the end of the weekend we'll stop the bleeding. It's still great to be a Tennessee Vol.

If these kids committed to Tennessee then they should at least wait til UT gets a new HC, and then decide.

The ones that are decommitting as soon as Kiffin left, apparently only committed to Lane/Monte and/or Orgeron.

Granted once UT names a new HC then some recruits may not like the guy or the system he runs, etc. But to just up and decommit now means you never were committed to TENNESSEE.

AGREED 100%!!! We, the whole f-in country, all saw Sunday how you to take a group of warriors and regardless of the odds, knock off the top dog. Just pure heart and a little thanks to Bruce Pearl. These guys that stay with The Big Orange are warriors not totally unlike "The 300" . I know some of you are saying... "wait a frickin' second." BUT no, we regroup and these players that stay WILL make a statement in the fall of 2010. You can mark that one down. NO better inspiration. When you see these players... Tell em'.. Don't you even dare NOT tell em them that they're heroes because that's who they are to every last orange blooded Tennessee fan. I'm gonna name my first son after freakin' Corey Miller by the time this is over with. :realmad:

I agree. I think Hamilton just had to say what he said to keep Orgeron away from the players.

I'm always a bit surprised when I read statements like this. I shouldn't be, I guess. But, I can't understand why people think teenage football players are any different than their own kids. If your kid was going to a school because if offered a particular major, and the school eliminated that major, would you tell them to just take any old classes as long as they graduated from that school? I'd be telling my kid to choose a school that fit them and their interests. If they needed to transfer, so be it.

I love UT and have multiple degrees from the University. But, in many cases, football players choose schools because of the coaches that recruit them, and the system fits them. When that changes, there are rules in place to deal with transfers. If a kid is willing to lose a year of eligibility to play where they fit and are happy, then why not wish them well? TN is not for every kid. Right now our program is down. This coaching situation has rocked the very soul of the fan base, no matter how many times you hear "it'll be fine." Our national image is as low, perhaps as low as it has ever been. I don't know that I'd suggest my kid commit to TN right now, even if I knew who the coach was going to be. They would face nothing but a rebuilding phase. If any of the recruits just love the school, then great. If they don't, then I wish them well. I understand how difficult their situation is. Or, at least I sympathize.

remember how many posts on here said how a defensive player would be CRAZY not to want to play and learn from Monte Kiffin?

Monte is not here any more saddly enough. So if those SANE defensive players came here for that reason, I can understand them considering other options right now.

On the other hand, if we get back to bringing in players that are proud to wear the ORANGE and want to follow in the tradition of the Tennessee f'n Volunteers, then it doesn't matter who our coach is. Come be in the same company as record setting 4-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning, Congressman Heath Shuler, Minister of Defense Reggie White - and the list goes on and on. We sent more players to the PROS that any other school long before lane carried his first clipboard. And we will continue to do so long after his hasty departure.

Who wants to be the next NFL Superstar from Tennesse?
Who wants to give their all for Tennessee?
C'mon down - you'll always be welcome.
