Here's how I think we end up. We currently have 17 commitment and I think we end up with about 9-11 more.
QB: Bray, obviously. However, I would not be surprised at all if our staff still actively pursued guys like Chase Rettig, Garrett Grayson, Tommy Rees, maybe even Jesse Scroggins
RB: There are several obvious "big time" RBs still considering us in Dyer, Seastrunk, Clements, and Bernard. I honestly don't believe we will end up signing one of those four, but it looks as though they will at least take an official here. Another guy to keep an eye on is Mustafa Green. Ultimately, the guy I see offering and signing is Keon Williams.
FB: Channing Fugate all the way.
WR: UT will only take one more receiver. The only four guys that seem to have mutual interest in Tennessee are Demarco Cobbs, Ted Meline, Kenny Stills, and Chris Dunkley. It looks as though all four will visit officially, but I think we end up with Cobbs in the end.
OL: This is where is gets interesting. The staff seems to really like John Cullen out of JUCO. The only other JUCO that is really an option is Chuckie Curry, but the staff seems to be most interested in Cullen. As for regular 2010 prospects, the only guys that seem to be realistic options are James Stone and Damien Robinson. The staff certainly still pursuing Arie Kouandjio but they aren't getting anywhere IMO. I believe (and hope) we will end up with Cullen and either Robinson or Stone. Another guy with a very good chance of getting a late offer is Cameron Clemmons.
DL: There are some guys the staff will get on campus and will continue to actively recruit, a few of which are committed to other schools. Some of them are Brandon Willis, Kelcy Quarles, Todd Chandler, JR Ferguson, and Ronald Powell. Right now, out of those five I honestly think our best shot is with Kelcy Quarles, though all look to be taking officials to UT, with the exception of Ferguson. I spoke to Chandler recently and he has definitely cooled on UT, but will still take an official. Willis will more than likely end up at FSU, and Ferguson is a tough one to call, but I think there's a very good chance he ends up at Miami with Kouandjio. I also would not be surprised in the least if Corey Miller wound up taking an official to Tennessee sometime during the season or maybe even later down the road. A JUCO guy to watch our for is David Mahoney. Also don't forget about Fre'Shad Hunter.
LB: The staff isn't recruiting too many prospects at the LB position. The three they seem to be zeroing in on are Jeff Luc, Christian Jones, Josh Shirley and Khairi Fortt. I believe the staff will land one of those, but all look like they will take officials, with the possible exception of Fortt and I wouldn't be surprised if they extended a late offer to an in state prospect, most likely Ferlando Bohanna. Travis Williams, who is a Safety/LB tweener prospect from Virginia will also take an official.
DB: The DBs are probably the toughest to call. It looks like Dietrich Riley will be a Vol. Cody Riggs and Keion Payne both definite possibilities and both will take officials. Christian Bryant and Joshua Shaw will also take officials. Another guy, who likely be a safety is college, if current Florida commitment Demar Dorsey, who will also likely take an official.
Here is how I think our class will end up:
Keon Williams
Demarco Cobbs
John Cullen
Damien Robinson
Cameron Clemmons
Kelcy Quarles
Jones/Shirley
Bohanna
Riley
And one of Riggs, Payne, Bryant, and Dorsey.
That would total 27 commitments. Two of the four stars that I projected to sign with us will probably gain a fifth star. Also Williams and Bohanna will likely end up being three stars That would leave us with 3.62 total star average and likely a Top 5 class.
