And were quoting Easterwood...

Robert Hubbs' official final five schools were Tennessee, Duke, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Auburn. *

Can all quotes from Easterwood no longer be accepted on this board please?

Easterwood IS NOT connected to the bball scene in Memphis like he once was in the late 90's early 2000's. Please don't listen to anything that nut has to say. He is just striving for attention.

PS: good work on the pickup, all day I dream about sports with the money backing!

Not trying to argue, letting our fanbase who may not already know...don't believe Easterwood or for that matter that Leroy dude when it comes to recruits, they're clueless.

Not meant as a shot at Memphis posters or fans, just to let those who may not know, don't listen to those certain people.

Gotcha.

Could have waited tomorrow though my friend :)

Easterwood was definitely off here, and has been off a lot over the last few months. It's disingenuous to say that he has no more connections in the area, but he's obviously not as plugged in as he used to be.

He said 1) Memphis was trying to make a late push for Hubbs and 2) Memphis was in better position than people realized. The first part was true, I believe. The second part is where he messed up. UT was obviously closer to landing Hubbs than most people knew.

Leroy was pretty off base as well.

Easterwood has been off for a couple of decades. Predicting memphis kids staying in memphis takes little talent.

Actually he said Tennessee wasnt even in Hubbs' top 5, so yea he was pretty damn far off.

I don't remember him giving a top 5 for Hubbs. I just remember he couldn't make a call on who leads.

He overestimated Memphis' chances with Nichols and JW3, but he was pretty spot on for the leaders for each I think.

Pull the article, he has a top 5 for hubbs, and UT isnt in it.

Also, Eric Bossi, much more respected than ole Leroy...is reporting vols are now the team to beat for Nichols. That doesn't exactly equal a <5% chance.

I'm not claiming he didn't say it, I just don't remember one way or the other.

Eric Bossi also doesn't know anything about regional recruiting, though. I think it's still a little generous to say that UT is the leader for Nichols. UT may end up with him, but it seems more a of 3-4 horse race for the kid with no clear leader.

Well he definitely did, because I remember how absurd it was, obviously since hubbs just committed.

To the capitalized....you say no clear leader yet above say you think Leroy was "pretty spot on" in naming Vanderbilt Nichols leader?

I'm not saying that Leroy was 100% correct, he obviously wasn't. But he said that Vandy was the leader for Nichols, and they've obviously become a big player for the kid.

Player and leader are 2 very different things...

If vandy is just a player(which I agree they are) then Leroy was wrong.

So what exactly was he right about in that article in regards to hubbs, j3 and Nichols?

Well, for Hubbs, he knew enough to know that he didn't know enough.

JW3's leader is GTown. Even your boy Galilee admits this, doesn't he?

And Leroy is one of the first to report Vandy's resurgence in Nichols' recruitment.

He named a top 5 and couldn't even name the school that led.

He was right on j3's leader, WAYYYY of on percentages though, you're boy galilee admits that.

And he was FARRR from the first to report Vandys resurgence. When he did report it he went way to far and said they led.

It sounds like you're agreeing with me. I don't know what else you want me to say.

That Leroy was way off on multiple levels about multiple guys...mainly making it a point to discredit UT on every guy yet it's now showing that was dead wrong.

Multiple outlets had said UT was a major player for Hubbs and Nichols, yet Leroy wouldn't even acknowledge it...the truth has come out though, no biggie.

Just wanted those who maybe didn't know that they shouldn't listen to a thing Easterwood says and ole Leroy isn't far behind apparently.
