It's not racist, but turning down a whole lot of money going towards your state is very stupid in my book.

Hard for me to agree that it is stupid to refuse stimulus money on principle. If the guys and gals in Washington were more principled, we would be in nearly so bad a condition.

I don't think many are expecting principled people running the place. You just have to pick the lesser of the two evils.

yah but if you just print money it doesnt really fix anything, maybe short term but our kids and grandkids are gonna have to deal with the venom of this creature

The problem with turning it down is that it will still get spent - just elsewhere. Then, you state's tax payers are subsidizing the residents of other states even more. It's a Catch-22.

And that's why I said it was stupid for others to turn down the money. It's going to be spent anyways, so why not help your own state out with it?

i wonder where this money is going to trickle down or are we still going to have to axe connections classes and more teachers and increase classroom size because of budget cuts

because the govt wants their hand in how the states spend the money. depending on the guidelines of the money my state wld recieve i might decline it myself

hahaha

the dollar is how the fed government has been able to get their hands in the states pants for a while. NCLB is a PRIME example, but im pretty sure the 10th ammendment provides some sort of protection for the states
