It has been forever and a day since we were ranked. We will not be ranked heading into 2014. At some point we have to be like Auburn was this year and win some games. I know this is captain obvious writing and all but at what point are we the shock of the SEC/Nation and actually compete and win 9 or 10 games?

It can be done and is done every year in the SEC and other conferences. Mizzou, Ole Miss and...Vandy recently. If Jones is the guy he has to find a way to have a break out year, not just a lucky win against USCe only to basically collapse the rest of the season.

He has 4 years in all probability.
Can we be the surprise team of the SEC in 2014?

I don't think so. I see us being basically in the same spot in 2014 unless those freshman recruits come in and prove to be among the greatest classes ever in college football. I think we'll be struggling for a while. I've lost a lot of hope after last night. I hate to say it. I love Tennessee, but we are horrible. Losing to Vanderbilt, especially the way we did, proves it. The loser mentality that is stinking up this program is depressing.

Jones is a car salesman .nothing more! Franklin is twice the coach jones is! We needed a coach that could do more with less.He spit in Tennessee's face when he brought the whole Cincy staff and claimed it "Best staff in America" Even though Dooley beat his staff head to head. Jones will stay Loyal to his Cincy staff and it will cause him his job Here! If we could have seen a flash of great coaching,or out scheming another team I would say yeah we will be much improved in 2014! I just don't believe we have a great game planning staff!

I agree. The game plan was play not to lose. We got out coached worse last night than I think I have ever seen a TN team be out coached. It was laughable.

We won't turn the corner any time soon. It might be 3 years from now if we're lucky.

Would be nice to see that flash of a great, not average Coach . I have just not been able to understand our Offensive staff's game plan. It never fools anyone!

I agree that was hard to watch. Still, I have to acknowledge a few things:

- Butch hasn't even been here a year yet
- He should get a refund on his inheritance
- We have last year's team with no offense and most likely have the same record as last year with a brutal schedule. I will choose to see this as progress.
- Vandy beats Florida, Georgia and Tennessee all in the same year. That is lightning that will never strike twice, Franklin had better upgrade while the time is right.

I believe Butch is the right coach and I even still believe in his staff.....for now....

Yep, even the TV announcers turned it into a comedy hour on behalf of errors by UT. CBJ has his work cut out getting this team up for a meaningless game against Kentucky.

After the fake field goal the writing on the wall was clear. I politely picked up my remote and flipped to something else, although I did flip back to watch the end. Oh well, thanks South Carolina for one signature win these season.

No, even with a top knotch recruiting class coming in they will be still be young. 6 maybe 7 wins in 2014. CBJ needs another great recruiting class.
