I do think Scotty's play hurt us a lot but the refs were HORRIBLE. I know we can't blame our play on them but I can remember several times that they screwed us.

1) B. Williams over the back foul in second half.

2) McBee reach in was the worst call I've seen in a while. The ref madeit from across the court.

3) Goins reach in on help side

These were just ones that came to my mind first that really hurt our momentum in the second half

Yeah, the refs definitely didn't do us any favors today. They were pretty bad.

This loss is on Hopson, Fields, and Tatum. Not the refs. Hopson and Fields had 9 or 10 turnovers combined. Tatum just didn't show up offensively.

These are 2 juniors and a senior that played like freshmen today.

:good!: Refs weren't great but they didn't favor either team with the calls.

you left out the call where the Uconn player kicked the ball out of bounds and the ref watching 6 feet away said
the ball was off Williams. When Williams tried to tell the ref that Uconn kicked it out the ref then called the over the back call.

I don't believe he said there was a conspiracy. The OP is pointing out calls that he felt were incorrect.

It seemed like an oddly called game.

First half it seemed like they let em beat the crap out of each other. Second half seemed just the opposite to me.

Agreed. There were blown calls on both ends. No one got an advantage off of the officiating.

If you can't dribble or catch (and hold on to) a freakin pass, the officials fall down the importance chart. And in this game, they really don't factor anyway.

We are weak and loose with the basketball, and its hitting with the players that you can't afford it to.

I saw that. there was a ref less than 5 feet from the play, and this ref comes running from the other sideline to call the foul.

Yeah, but Tatum had his hands full on the other end when guarding their stud. He did a good enough job on him to get us the win. Held him well below his avg. But he and Scotty both laid eggs on the two freshmen who burned us repeatedly. I gotta give Tatum a bye on O just b/c of his D assignment.

Hopson & Fields hands .. that's another story.

Refs didn't do any rebounding or just catching the ball for us. When do we learn to catch with 2 hands?

WE USED TWO HANDS!!! Still couldn't catch the thing. Maybe Pearl should should use catching a greased pig in practice to help? We'll, maybe not a pig in Bruce's case. JK

I am not saying that there is any conspiracy but if you go back and look at these 3 calls.. They killed our momentum and really hurt us. Not saying at all that we should blame the refs. I personally believe that Scotty and Fields killed our team but the refs killed many opportunities we had to grab momentum

Refs weren't great, but we were the problem. We were outcoached, outplayed and outhustled. The only game I think we were literally screwed by the officiating this year was at Charlotte. Those officials wanted us to lose and made some atrocious calls at the end of the game, that gave Charlotte the W. For example, Melvin Goins getting called with a foul after he had been pushed and kicked in the head with 1 minute left, which changed the entire game.

The refs are BAD consistently. In every game. In every conference. Its a rules issue. The average middle-aged referee just can't be consistent and get in right most of the time. If we want it better, seems to me we'll just have to quit paying attention to athletics for a decade or so and declining markets will send the signal: rules we be simplified, made more black-and-white, and then it'll be nirvana again.
