Does the precedent set following the USC-Utah game have any impact here?

I would say no only by virtue of the fact that it's a different conference, and things like that aren't the same from league to league. Also, this wouldn't be altering the final score, it would be vacating the result.

"If the decision lies with the Big East Conference leadership, Syracuse might find itself depending on the organization it just insulted and betrayed to hold on to its win and keep a bowl a possibility."

There's a slippery slope argument here.

It's one thing if, on the last play of the game, the officials blow a call that's determinative. That one is relatively simple to fix because there are no alternative outcomes. You either count the last play or you don't.

But, when you start monkeying around with calls that occurred earlier, you get into the territory of saying, if X was different than perhaps thereafter a team would have done Y differently. It gets complicated.

For some reason, I feel the same way toward these refs as I do toward cops that commit police brutality...

Somebody had money on that game or something. What a joke.

Yea I think that is the general consensus. I wish they had voice recorders in the replay booth. I am sure the replay official's words are priceless...any wagers on exactly what he said when he watched it over and over again to make sure that the official on the field had the right call :mf_surrender:
