Lots of big games that pertain to us going on today, and of course, tonight's game in Baton Rouge is HUGE! for us.
Vandy's Friday night game got suspended...they've picked it back up, looks like they will take it barring a miracle comeback by UGA. Vandy is up 12-2 top 9. they will play a second game today.
Auburn won it's game last night with Arky, and those two teams will also play 2 games today. The first game is scheduled for 5 PM, we're rooting for Arky to win both.
Obviously, the big news this week, was the change to the rotation and Andy Cox being named the starter for tonight's game.
Cox has started two games this season.
He went: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 SO...threw 52 total pitches versus Appy St.
He went: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0BB, 2 SO...Faced 6 batters got 2 K's, 1 Fly out, 3 Ground outs, 21 pitches total...versus ETSU (game 1)
I guess it goes without saying Appy St. and ETSU aren't exactly LSU...
I think Andy's longest outing (in relief) of the year was 6.1 innings versus Quinnipiac. He closed it out.
LSU used 6 pitchers last night, almost half of it's 13 member staff. We will see Jared Pocha on the hill for them tonight. I hope we get off to the same kind of start at the plate as we did last night. I would expect them to not leave anything in the tank if the game is close, so Kyle Bowman or Cody Glenn, maybe both will probably be the first calls from the pen. Broussard pitched only the ninth inning, so he'll be available as well.
LSU has developed the killer instinct that big time teams generally have. This is going to be a tough, tough game. We'll see what we are made of tonight.
Speaking of that...very interesting post game comments regarding some "individual's effort". That's a very different kind of statement and it's been a long time since CDS has used that kind of verbiage ...I wished I'd seen the game, I have no idea who he may be speaking of.
