Just saw on the news wire that Tony Dungy's 18 yr old son had passed away.. We should all keep him and his family in our prayers, he is not only an outstanding coach, but an incredible human being..
This is just devastating! I'm still at a loss for words. I meet James this past Summer at the Colts trainning camp. Great kid. The entire season and what the Colts have done doesn't even seem to matter now. I wouldn't be surprised if Tony calls it a career after this season and who could blame him. Thoughts and prayers with the entire Dungy family.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Tony Dungy and his family. It's a terrible thing to lose someone so young, even more tragic at this time of year.
He looked like a heathly kid when he is on the sidelines during the colts games. Really shocking. I feel for the family especially so near to christmas with his presents under the tree with his name on them. Man im getting depressed typing this.
Apparantly according to ESPN it was suicide. Such a selfish act to cause so much grief for all. Hopefully there will find a reason to ease their minds to an extent.
I don't even know where to begin on this subject. I was completely blowen away by it this morning when a friend called and told me the news. I mhad the honor of meeting James this past summer at the Colts trainning camp and he was a great kid and always cutting jokes with the Colts players. It's funny how a few days ago we Colt fans were upset about losing the perfect season and now I can honestly say I could careless about the playoffs or Super Bowl. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Tony doesn't coach again after this season, espically if we learn it was suicide. Tony is VERY much a family man and has said before he wouldn't be around the league in another 5 years because he wants to see his kids grow up. I would respect his decission 100% if he never comes back. I plan on taking tommorow off work and going to Indy to leave a memorial at the RCA Dome. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Dungy family. It's times like this you remember that sports is ONLY a game.
If you would like to leave a message for Tony his All Pro Dad website has set it up so you can do so. Go to All Pro Dad
That's the common thinking but unless we was him we'll never know what he was thinking or what was wrong. Just because it was a suicide doesn't make it any less tragic.
I'd be VERY surprised if Tony coaches again after this season. He's very big on family and this is going to tear him to pieces, espicaly since it was a suicide. I look for him to give up coaching to spend his time with his other younger children. I can't say that I blame him either.
I feel bad for Tony and his family. Anyone who says its a selfish act is usually wrong. One of the number one responses among attempted suicide victims is that their death would somehow relieve the burden they felt like they were making their loved ones bear.
