Dungy is winning the poll but you have to keep in mind that he had Manning.... I can't even think of who Gruden had at QB.

I thought the consensus was that Dungy was a good, not great coach, and that Gruden was the second coming of Lovie Smith.

And you're leaving out dungy's work in Tampa...the one that set up the roster of gruden's super bowl run (which gruden promptly turned the franchise to crap a few years after)

Didn't he win 9 games in like 4 of 7 seasons which may be the Bucs best run ever. Not sure. Not a Bucs historian.

Before dungy left they made the playoffs 4 out of the last 5 seasons (10-6, 8-8 [no playoffs], 11-5, 10-6, 9-7); so I presume the franchise best run (record wise) in that area over a period of years would be his


Gruden's records after that first year: 7-9, 5-11, 11-5 P, 4-12, 9-7 P, 9-7

(P=playoff berth)

(then there's the condition he left that team, looking at the season following his firing)
