Need cto post cliffs. CTV dropped some nuggets for sure. One for me was 4 million for Burns. That would be a Massive get.

That was a pretty good interview . . . what caught my attention was CTV's statement that there were "verbal agreements on some things" and "discussions continue on others". It would not surprise me that a basic agreement on contract terms, compensation and length are the items verbally agreed upon while LNS upgrades are being reviewed and discussed with CTV, ADDW, Administration and architects.

I also thought his comments about working with his current players that are eligible for the draft to assist with positioning them to maximize their draft potential. He also discussed the kids that face a tough decision as to whether or not to accept their draft pick or enroll at UT, how he, CTV, works with them to ensure that the maximize their potential either professionally or collegiately.

Lastly, CTV's praise for VOLNation was great, thanking everyone for their support of the team. Not just for this year but for his time at UT.

Bottom line, CTV reaffirmed what I think we all knew - is truly is a players coach!!

What I got from the interview was that House was likely to get big money - 4 million maybe - but Burns unlikely to get that kind of money, and therefore much more likely to come to campus than House.

He also said the draft was way too late. Needs to be in June creates all kinds of headaches.

Sadly I donā€™t think the MLB cares. They only want more views. But they would get more views if ppl started to make a quicker impact.

College baseball doesnā€™t enjoy the popularity of college football or basketball. When/if it ever does, MLB will care more about it. The NFL/NBA cares about college sports because college fans filter into the pro leagues. For example, before we had the Titans, my primary interest in the NFL was to follow former Vols. MLB doesnā€™t really have many of those types of fans.

What it came across as is that his price tag is 4 million dollars. Ben McKee said in VQ that he wants first round money which is 2.4 million. Feel good about 4 million. Not so much about 2.4.

Thanks for clarifying. The mock drafts Iā€™ve seen lately all project Burns around R3 or R4, so this is good news. Man, if we could get Burns, Spikes, and Moore all to Knoxville, weā€™re not only might get back to Omaha next year, but we might win it all. Weā€™d definitely have a more talented team than this one.

Re: the upcoming MLB draft - He also made the observations that (1) this year's MLB draft prospects face a deeper talent pool due to last year's draft only being 5 rounds and (2) fewer MiLB teams due to Manfred downsizing. Prospects may have a greater challenge finding pro placements.

I made note of his observations because that could work in college baseball's favor in the long run.

If you assume that the best of last year's pool went in those 5 rounds last year, with a few exceptions, then that left last year's 6-20 rounders to return to play college ball this past season. So I think this year's 1-5 rounds will take take those it would have taken anyway, and the glut of talent will be in the rounds 6-20 of this draft. Those guys could get really squeezed.

Great point about the majority of talent being in rounds 6-20 this year. I agree they could get really squeezed.

They certainly will have decisions to make. It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
