Can't make a thread like this until Smith gets his punishment.

If anything it would be the victim of timing. Smith got caught after we've been embarrassed numerous times. The next arrest was going to be the tipping point for the Athletic Dept.

I reckon if J.Jackson had been holding the pellet gun and asking guys for money at the Pilot it wouldn't have even made the news - you reckon. If it would have been that white walkon feller and Coach Pearl's son in the car with Tyler I reckon it wouldna even made the news and the cops would have bought them all steak dinners, paid for their rental car and then sent them on their merry way - you reckon. I reckon you got it all figured out Albert -- where do you hail from - reckon they're a lot smarter in your neck of the woods at least that's what I reckon.

This thread is pretty weak. You act as though we were not just in the news for felonies in the JJ and Nuke situation and that this recent event didn't involve 1/3 of the players from a top 15 team. It must be race. As for Britton Colquitt, he's an alcoholic but theres a big difference between having a drinking problem, and robbing people at gun point and have firearms with the serial number filed off so they can't be tracked in the case you use them. Don't be so quick to pull the race card, its already pulled way too much as it is.

While I agree with most of you that this isn't a viable excuse, their color definately plays a role in this thing. These guys come from a different culture, and the stigma that is associated with young black men with guns is not to be escaped by them. They can't blame it on being black, I agree, but the ridicule and presumtion of guilt isn't fair, and to say that Steven Pearl and Jcrompt with the same scenario would generate the same outcry to "show these THUGS the door" , is ludacris and naïve.
