Especially LBs... Against Oregon that will kill us. Hopefully they work on improving this during practice this week.

Looked light years better than last year. Giving up big plays again, but they look like they are simply just a few more good players short of being really good.

I only saw maybe two or three plays with bad angles. Two of them would have been big gainers even if there wasn't a bad angle.

One thing I did notice: AJ Johnson, while there are so many positive things about the way he plays, he has GOT to get more physical when it comes to taking on blocks. He takes on blocks standing fully upright and allows himself to get pushed out of the play. Other times, he runs around blocks, which allows a play to go right where he was previously occupying.

AJ Johnson just isn't a heady defensive player. IMHO.

He never guesses right and is either late or out of place.

Pretty sure CBJ we'll see the same thing when watching replay of the game and make it a point of improvement this coming week. CBJ doesn't miss the details and knows, especially with Oregon's team speed, that this has to improve.

Relax guys, I was really impressed overall today. Just pointing out something that CBJ no doubt will stress this week in practice as something the defense can improve on.

We still have the same players as last year...we need more speed, we'll get there but it will take 2-3 years, have patience, defense does look better at least. Our young DB's may turn out to be pretty good with some expierience.

Totally agree, based on what I've seen thus far this defense is light years better than last years debacle. The future is very bright especially in the defensive backfield.

I dont know about light years. that was, after all, Western Kentucky. We're better up front for sure. Still rough in coverage all over the field. We're going to have long days unless the front 4 gets a serious push.
