Rivals just posted a quote from Lofton's coach saying that he didn't get on a plane to USC and that he is 100% committed to UT!

I might have to go by Irving this weekend and give him a big hip bump!

They stuck Florida State's 1995 class in there but didn't have room for ours? I believe our '95 class went 45-5 in a real conference, and beat those Seminoles head-to-head when they got their shot at them.

Maybe we had some '94 redshirts in our '98 senior class, I don't know, but that was still one hell of a recruiting year.

Can somebody dig up some info on UT's class that had Manning? Who else was in it, where we ranked nationally, etc. Thanks.

since UT is nowhere to be found on this list I call a 5 yard penalty on wrong forum.

GoVols did a story about our best recruiting classes under Fulmer a few years ago: Part III: Ranking Fulmer's recruiting classes GoVolsXtra

Manning was part of our '94 class. Here's what they had to say about it:

This is the year when championship foundations were first laid.

Check out the headliners: defensive lineman Jonathan Brown, offensive lineman Jeff Coleman, defensive back Terry Fair, defensive tackle Ron Green, kicker Jeff Hall, offensive lineman Mercedes Hamilton, defensive back Steve Johnson, receivers Andy McCullough and Marcus Nash and offensive linemen Jarvis Reado and Diron Robinson.

Oh, and there was also a quarterback named Peyton Manning.

The 1994 class wasn't huge -- only 22 prospects -- but 14 completed their eligibility at UT. And two of the eventual absentees, quarterback Brandon Stewart and tailback Mark Levine, contributed before being pushed down the depth chart by more talented teammates.

The one big miss that UT fans still lament was talented tight end Dustin Moore, who was dismissed in February of 1997.

47-5 was the record to be exact. Nebraska was number 1 during that time IMO. Florida and FSU were 2A and 2B depending on who you like. We were 3rd during that time. Best run for Fulmer, one of the best runs for any coach, anywhere actually. V,B!

And if we'd actually beat Fl? The numbers would have been in the history books for longest consecutive winning streak.

Yep I remember Dustin Moore. Went to Greeneville High, was a RB there. Got dismissed for drugs I believe.

"Dirty" Moore was a freak of nature. went to Greeneville, the only thing that stopped him in high school was the endzone. smoked a ton of weed and failed like a dozen drug tests before he got kicked off the team

Ah, memories:

I was at UT when Moore was a SR at Greeneville. A few friends were from there so we went to watch the freek play. He was a lightning fast huge RB. Had a couple of 60+ yd runs in the first half. Also ran 2 punts back for TD. Coach pulled him from PR in second half because they wanted him to set the state record for yardage (which he couldn't do if he kept scoring TDs on PR). Next punt Greeneville declined a 15yd personal foul just so they could get Moore the yards. 1st down...65 yd TD run for Moore during which he stiffed armed a defender with the ball (stuffed the ball right in a guys facemask and kept on going)

One of the Biggest wastes of talent ever.
