Saying it's the way it's been all along is neither news or a mood builder.

Especially since I'm less anxious about not having power in the paint than I am about missed free-throws and layup opportunities.

Besides, I didn't just get worried all of a sudden. All of a sudden I'm hopeful enough too so that it's ruined how comfortable I was being worried.

According to FoxSports.com, we still are not in the top 25. There are still four teams between us and 25th. We need to have a victory against either Florida or Memphis in order to break into it. If I am not mistaken both of those are road games.

memphis doesnt scare me as much as florida does. Florida has some studs, not that memphis doesnt, but memphis hasnt played good since gonzaga. they lost to texas, almost lost to winthrop today, and well I think tennessee with there three ball shooting can hold memphis down enough to win. Lofton just has to take more than 4 shots in the first half...
That would be the same Winthrop team that won at Marquette and took Alabama to the wire in Tuscaloosa. They'll be an NCAA tournament team.

First of all, UT played amazing, inspired basketball in the second half versus South Carolina. However, if we play that badly in the first half against Florida or Memphis, we'll be down by 20 or 25, not 12.

Anything is possible; I certainly didn't give the Vols any shot against Texas, and look how wrong I was. If we hold serve in the home opener against Georgia (very likely), and maybe steal another SEC road win against LSU (not as likely, but certainly possible), it's not going to matter so much if the Vols lose to both Florida and Memphis. And as badly as Kentucky is playing, I'm not counting the Vols at Rupp Arena as an automatic loss anymore.

I'd actually much rather fly under the radar on the Top 25 - I know it's good for bragging rights, but the win/loss record and the RPI (currently #9, according to Sportsline - obviously inflated, but still amazing) are more important to get to grand prize - a trip to the Big Dance.

(Bracketology currently has us as a #6 seed, by the way. Again, inflated, but... wow.)

GO VOLS!!

Let's beat Georgia. A loss in that one negates the win yesterday.

I think you will be lucky to go 2-2 in those games. Seems to me that Florida and Memphis are simply out of reach.

Aberrations, both. I look for consistency, like say 14-0.
We'll see where Texas is at the end of the year. I saw Memphis play Duke in person, I would agree their Texas performance was an aberration. However, exactly how many bad games has Texas played with a full complement of healthy players?

Yes, and Urban Meyer dominated the SEC last year

They dominated us as well as UGA.

I think you are using the word "domination" a little loosely. Both those games were buttugly.

Oh, so we and UGA make up the entire SEC?

Damn, Alabama, USC, and LSU are pretty pissed then
