Top 5 Reasons We Should Be #1 Next Week

We definitely DON'T want that target on our backs. Keeping us at #2 or #3 will help keep us from becoming overconfident and complacent. We need to stay motivated and focused on a goal, an achievement. Defending a #1 ranking is a less-inspiring goal than beating a #1-ranked team on their turf. Plus, there is less pressure on the underdog.

I get what you’re saying and that is often the case, but not with this staff.

The coaches will not let them be overconfident or complacent.

Why do you think this matters? This team is the number 1 team in the nation, this team isn’t going to overlook Georgia and even slightly thinking that is beyond incomprehensible

We got no choice. It's either take the number 1 spot next week or drop out of the top 4. I'm going with #1! GBO

What?

That's the argument of a natural #2. Someone whose insecurities only allow him to strive for second-best. Someone who fears success.

You need to shrug that off, brother.

We're gonna lead from the front.

Go Vols!

I don't think it matters at this point. We are the hunted. The number is irrelevant. We're back.

There is no chance this team would be overconfident or complacent if ranked #1. If anything it would fire them up to prove everybody they belong.

Totally agree. Who wants to play with that target on their back? Seems like the old obsession of " are we over looking">>( fill in the blank team ) has been replaced with " we should be ranked #1"

Seems like we need to throw out all of the old mindsets we have seen with previous staffs and teams. This staff and team don’t play down to competition like previous have, they don’t overlook or look ahead. They just play their game and have refined it each week. I have heard the “one week season” from others in the past, but this team really seems to live, and execute that mantra.
