My top 5...

1-(1998) Vols 22, UGA 3

2-(2001) Vols 34, UF 32

3-(2004) Vols 30, UF 28

4-(2003) Vols 10, Canes 6

5-(1999) Vols 38, ND 10

I could have gone further back, but these are just all fresh in my memory. This is so hard to narrow down.
Honorable mention:
2004 Georgia game
1999 Georgia game
2001 ND game
1999 Bama game
...I will also never forget the 1999 Memphis game...I loved the all Orange uni's, and that clutch bomb from Tee Martin to Bobby Graham!!!

Just like Belway, I can't rank them but here they are:

1993 vs. UGA 38-6 My first real SEC game as a UT student. I couldn't talk for a week! :rocks:

1985 vs. Auburn 38-20 First time I ever saw the goalposts come down.

1995 @ Bammer 41-14 Manning to JK and the streak was over. (and won me $500  )

1998 vs. UF 20-17 If I have to rank a #1, that's it. Nightime in Neyland and that stadium was rockin! 2nd set of goalposts come down.

1998 @ UGA 22-3 They were so cocky before the game but nowhere to be seen afterwards.

Sorry, they may be a little different than most but I only included games I personally witnessed.

Anyone who doesn't put the '95 Bama game in the top-5 isn't old enough to remember the agony of the years before or appreciate the contrast with the series since. With one deep "go" route, Manning "turned the tide" and we've never looked back.

1985 vs. Auburn - That was the "Whoa Bo" game where SI showed up to do a Heisman hype story about Bo Jackson and #1 ranked Auburn. Tony Robinson ended up on the cover instead. :pepper:

'04 Florida
'03 Miami
'98 Florida
'95 Bama
'91 ND

(Chronological order only. . .tough to rank these, but I'd put the '95 Bama game at #1)

1. 1995 Bama - Since the opening play, Fulmer has never looked back.

2. 1998 Florida - We had a pet peve, and his name was Steve

3. 1998 UGA - Silenced Sanford Stadium

4. 1999 Bama - Jamal out rushed Heisman Hopeful Shaun Alexander

5. 2004 UGA - Similar to 1998, came in cocky, nobody really gave us a shot, double digit dogs, and once again, silenced Sanford Satdium.

I'd say the same thing about the 1982 game that ended the 12 year streak and pushed the Bear into retirement! We won 4 or 5 straight before the next streak that you reference above.

1985 Auburn game was sweet as was the 85 Bama game with Dale Jones making a circus interception from current Tide coach Mike Shula (who was known for NEVER throwing interceptions).

I remember that game well; not because of the big win, but because I was only 8 years old and I remember thinking that I had never seen that many drunk people in one place celebrating.

In no particular order:

1982 Bama-I was only 15, but vivid memories. Not my first game, but the day I truly became a vol fan for life.
1985 Auburn
1995 Bama-Best away game in my list.
1998 Florida-Loudest Neyland has ever been.
2001 Florida

These are all games I have seen in person.

1) Florida '98
2) Notre Dame '91
3) Bama '95
4) Florida '01
5) Auburn '85

I'd love to say 'bama '82, but I wasn't real in tune to the gravity of the event. I do remember somebody telling me that Kirk Trevor, the conductor of the KSO, saying something to the effect of "how about them VOLS" during the symphany after we won.

This is a very tough one, indeed. I don't think I could list 5 of my favorites that I have attended, much less overall.

A few have already been mentioned, such as the 98 and 04 Florida games. Another couple are the 90 and 92 Florida games.

The 1991 Auburn game has always been a favorite of mine as well, with Carl Pickens tearing up the Tigers' secondary, and Dale Carter making a circus interception.

The 1998 Arkansas game is up there, too, but only because of the end. Up to the point before Stoerner fumbled, it was actually very ugly.

Maybe the best game that I did not attend was the 98 Syracuse game. That was just a great college football game.

Everyone has mentioned some great games but us old timers will mostly choose the Tennessee/Georgia Tech game of 1956. Both were SEC teams, ranked 1 & 2. I Listened on radio and it remains the best and most exciting game I ever saw or heard. Johnny Majors was at tailback but it was the fullback, Tommy Bronson, who went over on a short yardage play for the game's only score.

(1) 1956 Tn 6 Ga Tech 0

(2-5) Any of those mentioned by others already.

I don't know whats more impressive the fact you remember this game in such detail or the fact that you have gone from listening to games on radio, watching them on tv, and now in another millenium chatting about it on the internet. Most people your age can't turn a computer on. You the man.

Another old fart checking in: The best game I have seen the Vols play was the '59 game against LSU. UT was having a so-so year and LSU with the Chinese Bandits came in having given up three points for the season (this was in early November). The Vols won 14-13 when a 2 point conversion failed.

"The Stop". LSU was defending national champs and had a 19 game win streak on the line. Billy Cannon was stopped on the two point convesion. I think we had that as a trivia question on here not too long ago.
