Would love to offer Peterson 3.5 to 4.0 million and make him turn it down. I dont like our chances but i would ask. Then i offer the same to Patterson. With these two guys you wouldnt have to worry about giving them a long term contract because you know they are winners. I would be hesitant to offer some of these unproven college coaches (gruden) a long term deal. JMO

Damn Bret Bielema is good, Wisconsin has given him two contracts that make him the 19th and 22nd best paid coach.

I disagree. Gruden isnt a proven winner in college (or in the NFL imo) and both Peterson and Patterson are proven winners. No doubt Gruden would probably get more attention from recruits at first but Id take the other two then offer Gruden if they declined. JMO

If you want a "personality" you go after Gruden, if you want a coach you go after Patterson or Peterson.

Art Briles would be a good hire and is really underpaid in comparison on this list.

I don't think that would be a good hire. He did manage to recruit an eventual Heisman winner, but that only culminated in a 10-win season. He's never had a defense and is only 30-30 in 5 years there. They are a historically bad program, but I'd like to see Hart hire a defensive guy.

I just want him to hire a proven winner

He needs to get Charlie Strong. I think he'd be a great hire and I also think Tennessee could actually get him.

The Big East as a football conference is dying and he should jump at the chance to be a head coach in the SEC. Sounds like a great recruiter, knows the SEC well, and is a defensive-minded head coach.

The top 5 on that list are not coming here, period. Given where CDD is on that list, we need to be targeting the guys in the 24-35 range. My intuition is that we are after Gundy or Tuberville, given those possibilites.

Charlie Strong is a risky hire imo, he barely beat numerous 2nd rate teams this year then got blown out by a crappy 5-5 syracuse team.
