Ferguson suffered injuries to his throwing hand before and during his senior season at Butler (N.C.) High School but still lead his team to a state championship. Although Scout four-star recruit Joshua Dobbs arrived with more fanfare, Ferguson was placed on a 6,000-calorie-a-day diet and fought through a leg injury during his first season on Rocky Top.

With none of his three counterparts taking the reins on the quarterback job at Tennessee, the gun-slinger is in a perfect spot to do so with a productive spring camp.

With former Scout four-star wideouts Josh Malone, Marquez North and LaVon Pearson as weapons to go with former four-star tight ends Daniel Helm and Ethan Wolf, the Vols' starter has a silo of destructive weapons to get Tennessee football back on track. -- Danny Parker, InsideTennessee.com

I really hope there is some serious QB development by next season...I don't care who, just a solid QB who can get the ball from point A-B

Completely depends on which VN insider you ask!

If its Ferg I am cool with that. I just hope CBJ doesn't continue to use the whatever QB has the best week in practice starts deal.

Fergy went to Florida. Dobbs didn't. I thought there was a quote from butch saying when Worley got hurt that he wanted Fergy to go in but he couldn't due to his leg injury.

I think given what we heard from fall camp and through out the season, deductive reasoning says RF is ahead of Dobbs and if not for injury he probably would have played after Worleys injury. As far as Worley vs RF I have no idea but I think RF will be better but we have no idea what butch wants to do with red-shirting vs playing RF.

The first time Worley hurt his had RF was warming up on the sideline but Worley was able to come back in. The next week RF hurt his leg and was in a walking boot which is why Dobbs came in.

at this point,who really knows ? :)

I was just using it for a joke cause he wasn't mentioned in that list. But your right, I agree who knows at this point. He may come back better than ever. I just want a QB who can lead our team and complete passes. I really don't care who it is cause there all VOLS so I'm wanting them all to succeed. GBO

Does anyone know where CBJ said early on that with Worley, Peterman, Ferguson & Dobbs he only needed three QBs on road trips, so he was going to rotate Ferguson & Dobbs.

Was that so until the injuries which is why Dobbs got his chance?
