has taken control. I think we all know what happens when Tiger is playing as well as he is now......everybody will be scrambling to finish second. Interesting, I see where Woody Austin is two shots behind. Can't wait to hear his BS Sunday evening about how he played better than Tiger but just didn't get the breaks. Hopefully , the idiot learned his lesson after the PGA

Tiger is playing as well as he ever has right now. Scary doesn't even do it justice. Best player to ever play the game regardless if he catches Nicklaus or not.

unless he has a sustained period of great driving, he will never touch the way he played in 2000.

He has driven the ball well this year for the most part and at times very well, his putting has been what has held him back over the last year from doing something out of this world.

and I would love to see tiger on some of those courses with greens that run in the 7's or 8's. I agree that it is impossible to compare the two but I do think that Tiger would be just as good as anyone.

I should add why I think that Tiger is best in history and not just this era, and why I don't think that the same could be said as easily of some of the other better players today.
What seperates Tiger from everyone else, and I think shows that he could compete in any era is his ability to make a variety of shots from any condition. Tiger doesn't just play tee to green or bomb and gouge as many players today do. yes, he hits it a long way, but he also plays shots that no one else really has. Take last week, on the same hole Tiger hit a 3 wood that stayed just above the worm holes, and then hit a 3 wood that towered higher than any pitching wedge that I've ever hit and landed soft as a butterfly. Tiger is creative enough and has the physical skills to make shots that other players can only hope to make. Jack was well known for being able to hit his long irons really high, but tiger can take it high or hit the "stinger." That's my take on why Tiger would be the best in any era.

his driving has been atrocious for most of the past two or three years. That big crunch he was doing made it nearly impossible for him to be a consistent driver of the ball. That big head drop is starting to subside and he's hitting the 1 much better.

His putting is what has made up for the atrocious driving over the past few years, no doubt about it.
