Is there a method to how they pick the locations for the first few rounds? I was looking at the brackets and to me it does not make much sense. Vandy, a 7 seed, gets to play at home. Yet the #1 overall Baylor plays in Ohio. Notre Dame is playing at home. The teams seems to be everywhere, and ranking does not seem to have any effect.

Do the locations bid on teams? I just thought UT would of played in Nashville or at least Knoxville. Big fan following, Pat Summits last year maybe. So I just do not follow why they are in Chicago.

The schools put in bids and the 16 sites are chosen a little over a year in advance. I think that there is a rule that if a school is hosting and they make the tournament then they have to play at home no matter what seed they are. Baylor is playing in Ohio because the committee didn't want any of the number 1 seeds to possibly play someone on their home floor, but I didn't understand where they put them. I would have thought that Baylor would have been sent to Tallahassee instead of Bowling Green, Ohio, and that Stanford would have then gone to Ohio instead of Norfolk, Virginia. Then they could have put Tennessee in Norfolk instead of having to play a 2nd round game as a true road game.
